The Ozil Money Pit

Offtopic a little but talking about AFTV, most of them involved are complete idiots.

Where did you hear this?
I think that is one of the main criticisms of our midfield for Laca and Auba not Ozil.
I definitely remember the blame shifting to the players behind him rather than those in front of him once we got Auba and he was still shit. Wasn't many going with that line though.
I asked as i've heard the opposite as he is now accused of choosing the sideways/backwards pass to Xhaka instead of playing through-balls for assists.
Ian Wright, for example, has been banging on about it for 2 years and so have a few here.
When we got Laca, his runs were constantly being ignored with possession being recycled instead. This has continued since Auba joined with Mkhi the only guy trying to pick up his runs.

Good o'l Robbie has been at the forefront of milking fans for a while now. He got his big hit in the summer of 2013 when a video went viral of an old gent after the villa loss and the summer of Higuain and Suarez.
I've been in the ad-tech industry for years and AFTV was a client of ours along with a number of substantially more high traffic websites.
Some of the fans on it are apparently real long term ones from the 80's but most of his content is driven to get high views and consequently high $$$.
Sure thats what media is all about, making money. Its the same reason they have moron ex-players like Neville, Carragher, etc as pundits instead of people with decent insights into the game.

Exactly.
I was about to post the below which backs up your point.
Unlike many i avoid but don't begrudge the man earning his crust as established news organisations like talkshite have been doing far worse to us for over 20 years. In any case i think his main audience are manu fans which explains why he has a bigger following than their own fan tv channels.
Yeah thats how I feel. I don't watch it, don't really like it but I say fair to play to your man Robbie. He got a camera and went out and made something, filled a gap in the market. Beats working in a call centre.
going back to ozil, i think the club needs to take a very firm, hard line stance on ozil this summer.
either he agrees to go if they can find a decent club for him, or hes going to spend the last 2 years of his contract in the reserves and he'll never see first team football again at arsenal. that will tell you everything you need to know about him and where he is right now in his career. he has no more german NT to play for. is he comfortable with his career being over? if he is, then he wouldn't be any help to our team anyway.
if inter milan comes in and says they want him but they'll only offer £10m for him because of what they need to pay him, we need to take it. hes a sunk cost right now, anything we can do to get his wages off the book should be done, and done as soon as possible

Am I supposed to be upset or appalled that he makes money? Sorry, you're talking to the wrong guy in that case.
He follows Arsenal everywhere and has done for decades. And so have most of the fans that feature more prominently.
They make high quality videos that capture the mood of the fans on matchdays: Which is really valuable to international fans and any one else that can't go to games but wants a taste of of the experience. They also do a good job of discussing topics relevant to Arsenal fans outside of match days, they've got their finger on the pulse, as you'd expect from proper Arsenal fans.
I only watch sporadically, but I do find it cathartic to tune in after a bad defeat and see the rage I'm feeling expressed by other Gooners. Occasionally the joy too.
I say this gentleman, Robbie, has done very well for himself; through his own ingenuity and hard work, and at nobody else's the expense. Good on him.

Wenger comments about a player losing hunger with International retirement are bang on. He’s got his massive contract, he’s got no motivation to perform well, Arsenal aren’t going to win the PL in his time here and he’s already won the cups.
Sadly he’s almost impossible to get rid of, Arsenal won’t loan him whilst they still have to pay some of his wage, and he won’t let us anyway. He’s here until 2021 when he’ll then get another massive contract somewhere else.
Just quoting this as I’d otherwise just be repeating myself. All I’ll add is that for him to not even up it for a European final says a lot about his commitment to this club.
An utter embarrassment of a man.
Oh yeah, if he has his agent come out and try and excuse his season I hope he gets booed all season when he steps foot on the pitch.
Oh a statement from his agent castigating the haters and taking sly digs at emery is almost guaranteed

He is on about 125k per week higher than Hazard. Just let that sink in. Fuck whoever who gave that contract.

Even otherwise, I'd be happy with that outcome. Anything to possibly shame him into leaving.

That would be one Ivan Gazidis mate. The guy who has set us back 10 years with a series of terrible decisions.
Wenger needed to go due to his bad coaching, but I think it’s safe to say those reports of Gazidis taking over transfers etc were bang on. Remember when we signed Xhaka and Wenger wouldn’t start him at first, same for Kolasinac. On paper those two aren’t his type, both technically miles off.
Gazidis has wasted so much fucking money, the recent transfers, he gave the highest contract in our history to Ozil, a decision even Wenger was against. Constantly fucked up player contracts and cost us millions there, then he fucks off when he gets a bigger wage packet, or more likely realises with no Wenger he’d be hounded out anyway.
I hate that bald bastard more than any player, coach or owner at the club, yes even more than Kroenke.
Brilliant opportunity for the new structure to make a statement - tell Ozil he either finds another club and takes a pay cut to market value wages, or he sees out his contract playing in the u23s & never sees 1st team football for us again, not even the CCup. Alternatively he can buy out his remaining 3 years and depart now as a free agent.

If you honestly think he will give up his guaranteed £31million if we banish him from the first team, i think you are in for a disappointment.
We cannot force him to take a pay cut as we have signed the contract.
The best we can do is pay him off upfront to leave but the amount will remain £31million unless he agrees.
Think about it.
What would you do if you were paid £350k a week and your boss says you continue to earn that but come in and do nothing for 2 years or pay £31million out of your own pocket to go and look for another job?
Absolutely. I think the fans need to give Raul and Vinai leeway here. Getting rid of Ozil will be the hardest project over the next 12 months. At best, we probably only buy him out next summer.
If we must terminate his contract, we need to do it. It's imperative we get rid of him asap not only because he's useless on the pitch, but his presence is just toxic now. I don't want any of the academy lads picking up any traits from Ozil when it comes to professionalism, work ethic, desire, attitude and mentality.
