His work ethic and attitude to the game is the worst I've seen in an Arsenal player bar none. He makes the likes of Arshavin and Bendtner look like model pros.
The Ozil Money Pit

thread title can be updated. he is no longer an enigma, we know exactly what he is

That's shocking, although giving Sanchez away for Mkhi is probably one of the best thing Wenger has done in recent years. Now it's costing United huge huge money and having very little results. On the other hand as flakey as our Armenian is at least statistically he is very influential in Emery's game.

Slightly embarrassed to remember all the excuses we have given him. From needing a fast striker to needing good attacking mids around him to building an entire team around him with him in his favoured number 10 position. The only ever season he has given us that is acceptable was that half season where most of his crosses were headed in by Giroud with a good number of assists. First 2 seasons prior to that he was decent to flakey, missing sometimes but influential in easier games.
Nowdays...

Not anymore. Now the line is...the rest of the team isn't set up to get the ball to him quickly.
Apparently new rules in the Chinese league as of last year make buying players for huge sums more difficult, but they can still pay big wages. How come he doesn't go there? He has a huge following, we'd sell him cheap and they can pay his wages. Since he obviously doesn't care about football, it seems like a match made in heaven.

Where did you hear this?
I think that is one of the main criticisms of our midfield for Laca and Auba not Ozil.

To be fair to him (and I'm not sure why I would be, at this point), he does often have to come deep to pick up the ball due to players like Xhaka, Kolasinac and AMN being useless at progressing play centrally.
Even when he comes deep, he just side passes to Xhaka.
He no longer even gets assists so there's no point playing him now.
Wenger allowed him to avoid training for 2 years and all his muscle is gone.
Playing him now just reduces any chance of selling as the performances are dire.
Think about it, who is going to offer any money for what they saw yesterday?
Newcastle maybe? Hopefully with their new Caliph oilbucks.

Would people be willing to pay him off to leave?
I know you are being sarcastic but many of my friends who went said the abuse for Ozil was really bad and vile. The pitch was too far for that fucking high angle drone like camera to hear but the dislike for Ozil has reached the pinnacle.
Just kinda weird ornstein relayed those nonsense and in the end the Chelsea end was almost full while ours was half empty throughout. It was that bad and so surprising given we have the bigger global fanbase.
Some of the tiers were almost fully empty.
Robbie, the guy that runs Arsenal Fan TV, says he reckons it was about 5 to 1 in terms of Arsenal fans outnumbering Chelsea fans in the stadium. Say what you want about his channel but he's a honest and fair guy and, whilst he might not have the ratio exactly correct, I very much doubt he talks shit.
those photos confirm the vibe i felt watching on the telly. felt like one of those pre-season games in asia. no energy about it, and our players played like it as well
We should just subsidize his wages. Pay whoever wants him 10-15m pounds. He makes 18.2 million pounds a year for a total of 36.4 million for the length of his contract.
It'd be a savings of at least 20m pounds.
A bit like chris Paul situation

Offtopic a little but talking about AFTV, most of them involved are complete idiots.

I definitely remember the blame shifting to the players behind him rather than those in front of him once we got Auba and he was still shit. Wasn't many going with that line though.
I asked as i've heard the opposite as he is now accused of choosing the sideways/backwards pass to Xhaka instead of playing through-balls for assists.
Ian Wright, for example, has been banging on about it for 2 years and so have a few here.
When we got Laca, his runs were constantly being ignored with possession being recycled instead. This has continued since Auba joined with Mkhi the only guy trying to pick up his runs.

Good o'l Robbie has been at the forefront of milking fans for a while now. He got his big hit in the summer of 2013 when a video went viral of an old gent after the villa loss and the summer of Higuain and Suarez.
I've been in the ad-tech industry for years and AFTV was a client of ours along with a number of substantially more high traffic websites.
Some of the fans on it are apparently real long term ones from the 80's but most of his content is driven to get high views and consequently high $$$.
Sure thats what media is all about, making money. Its the same reason they have moron ex-players like Neville, Carragher, etc as pundits instead of people with decent insights into the game.
