Yeah thinking about it it’s good. We need to get big players in now otherwise come summer we may find it incredibly hard to attract anyone of note.

We’d certainly have more goal power with Aubameyang up front. Be nice to see a strong player who can frighten defenders with mad pace

never know we might end up like this

This is going to happen isn't Mirth. We'll end up with no one.

Aubameyang’s disruptive reputation set off some alarm bells inside the Emirates, but it is understood Mislintat, who worked as a scout at Dortmund for 10 years, has given the Gabon international a positive character reference.

Mislintat is believed to have assured Arsenal that Aubameyang is hard working and dedicated and that his current issues at Dortmund are not reflective of his normal personality.

From Matt Law's article in the Telegraph. Listen to ol' Sven, Arsene.

Oooh, gwan Auba! Push this through.

If there's legs to this, I wonder if they'll try and get Giroud to go the other way as a replacement? Think we'd be well up for that.

Cech

Bellerin Mustafi Mavropanos Kolašinac

Niles

Ramsey Wilshere

Özil

Lacazette Aubameyang

Can't we give them Xhaka and some money and take Wiegl too?

Imagine Giroud, Walcott and Welbeck leaving in the same window

Need a similar overhaul in midfield

how much would giroud be worth in the deal if he goes the other way?

supposedly auba is worth £40-50m. surely giroud knocks at least £15-20m off that?

Well the figure being talked about in the summer was £30m and we know Dortmund were seriously in for him because Giroud said so himself.

Coquelin is already in the out column remember.

Hopefully this is just the start. Lots and lots to get out the door.

olly going the other way makes sense. dortmund were interested in him in the summer from memory

these swap deals are usually written off as the stuff of championship manager. it would so arsenal to try and close 2 complex swap deals in the space of days 😆

you guys are really beacons of hope.
I wish a bit of that rubs off on me.

Giroud himself confirmed it:

He's also talked a lot about January and how important the World Cup is for him:

Giroud insists Deschamps simply wants him to play more, regardless of whether it’s at Arsenal or not and the striker says he’ll consider every opportunity in January.

‘I have the World Cup at the back of my mind weekly, almost daily. Each time I go onto the pitch, it’s to be more clinical and keep on track for the World Cup,’ said Giroud.

‘During international get-togethers, the coach usually warns me against that [leaving Arsenal for the sake of it]

‘He has told me the things he wanted to tell me, which is totally logical and I understand. He wants me to play more.

‘If I wasn’t able to leave this summer, it was because of the opportunities I had.

‘It wouldn’t have been good to leave for leaving’s sake, but it’s certain that eventually, even in January, I’m going to have to ask myself the question again.

‘It won’t be easy to find the right solution and take the right decision, but we’ll look at the opportunities.’

Swap's on! Works for everyone.

handed in a transfer request according to bild. would be bloody handy to have him in the squad for the next fixture

A few rags reporting that The Weng is dithering due to Aubameyang's apparent disciplinary issues and wants to pay 35m or so as opposed to 50m.

Not his place to worry about how much it costs anymore, his time is done. Excited by this, c'mon Sven no deadline day bullshit, let's get it done.

If it means this guy comes in, though, I think it's worth it for all parties.

Oh yeah, definitely. It objectively makes sense for everyone involved really. Olly and Kos are probably my favourite players though, it's a bit sad for me that their time at the club seems to be coming to an end.

[Matt Law] Arsenal close in on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as new head of recruitment insists they are not getting a bad boy

r 2Arsenal confident of signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after Dortmund talks. Gabon international could cost as much as £53.3m.

Borussia Dortmund will decide Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's future on Tuesday, says Guillem Balague

The morning scoop.

I'd be sad to see Giroud go.

Worse still would be for us to somehow fuck this up in a way that leaves everyone pissed off and no one having moved.

Aubameyang would be a great addition in the face of Sanchez's departure, it would increase the likelihood of another major signing in summer if anything. No one's going to come to an Arsenal without any quality players.

Burnsy, your last point is important. I think people really underestimate the value of having star anchors. If we can grab Aubameyang right now, we should because if we get to summer with Sanchez gone, Ozil leaving and Ramsey uncertain, then we will not attract anybody worthwhile. But if we have Aubameyang around, it paints a slightly different picture. At least we have a bonafide big name in the stadium.

I just wish we had been able to secure our backroom signings six months earlier. Better late than never, I guess

It'd help when trying to get Ramsey and Jack to sign new deals too. Show that we aren't happy to just plummet into midtable irrelevance.

Most importantly, it will help attract a new manager in the summer. Also, if Ozil is on the fence, should help massively that he can feed Aubameyang rather than Welbeck.

It would help if we sold Welbeck basically.

We would have to depend on Lacazette for Europa

We're doing that anyway right now.

So Aubameyang would be first team and Lacazette second team? Unless we find a way to fit both and Ozil in the starting lineup

So is this really happening?
I'm trying to muster up some interest in it but it's not remotely exciting

You've watched Wenger for over 20 years - you really don't think the most likely outcome is that one of them will be shifted out to the wing for no good reason?

Clrnc wrote:

Why could he not play? Dortmund were in the CL like United so why would one be cup tied and the other not?

He hasn’t played in it yet though, isn’t that the determining factor?

I do know that you can only register one player who has already played in UEFA comp. so we wouldn’t be able to register both regardless.

77 goals between Laca and Auba last season.

Yeah I always understood it was if the player had played in it. Dortmund haven't even had a game in it yet.

With Aubameyang in the side I’d fancy our chances of scoring at Old Trafford and away to spurs
