Knowing our luck City will just bid for Aubameyang if they can't get Sanchez.

Aubameyang would be called a donkey useless etc after couple of months or weeks playing in this team. Dortmund have form for making attacking players look better than they are plus on the ball he's more limited than Lacazette

Or their attacking players look better cos they were playing with Aubameyang :boris:

No I'm pretty sure I'm right. Loads of players left Dortmund and haven't looked half as good as they did there, Lewandowski is the only exception.

Agree with Jones. Mentioned the same last week. They have an attacking system that generally works very well for their attackers. Which makes me generally wary of their attacking midfielders. Strikers I am less concerned by because I think it is easier to transfer the finishing aspect of their game. But their AMs like Gotze, Mkhitaryan, Kagawa etc., have not had fun on their travels

They're all AMs though. Lewandowski and Aubameyang are strikers. Its a short term move if it happens but one thats worth it. He's better than Morata, Lukaku, Lacazette, etc and we need someone to score goals with Alexis leaving.

Lacazette haven't been making great runs lately, but earlier when he did we still didn't get the ball to him. I saw someone say "Aubameyang will finish the chances we aren't creating for Lacazette" and I think that's probably right. If we Malcom can help with our chance creation then great, but if we only sign Aubameyang I don't know how much it will help.

Lucas Barrios wasn't an AM, complete journeyman of a player and scored 20 goals in consecutive seasons which almost earned him a 20m move to Chelsea back around 2010.

No offence but I don't understand why we're having this discussion, it's blatantly obvious that their system favours the striker even Aubameyang would agree. They have creativity all over the pitch, their left back Guerreiro would probably start at AM for us currently. What they need is a striker to get on the end of the countless chances they create, the prime reason why Aubameyang has scored more than even Lewandowski despite the latter being the clearly better player

I think Auba + Malcom + Ozil would instantly help us play a proper counter-attacking system, especially with the 3 ATB. We just don't have the speed in the current frontline to do that, except for Alexis. That in itself can make us a better team. Of course, it needs to be coached, which Wenger can't do, but feels to me like he will be off in the summer.

If we are going to become a counter attacking team this is the guy to get (but that begs the question why the likes of Xhaka are at the club). If we are playing the way we are playing he is not, although I would take anyone with a bit of quality at this point.

Auba is fantastic striker, make no doubt about that. I have no idea if he can flourish here because our team is absolutely terrible, but on paper a 352 with Ozil behind Auba and Laca is good.

He can play along the front 3 and played wide when Lewandowski was there in his first season at Dortmund.

Ideal replacement for Alexis as both can play in all 3 positions.

A convenient way to rile up Arsenal fans, because it's so believable that I actually believe it. Just stay out of it, Arsene.

if us signing auba forces wenger to throw a tantrum and quit, then i am 100% on board with signing auba

Every single one of these silly stories is absolute bullshit.

Clickbait material. We've bought plenty of difficult characters.

Really fancy this to happen.

Yeah thinking about it it’s good. We need to get big players in now otherwise come summer we may find it incredibly hard to attract anyone of note.

We’d certainly have more goal power with Aubameyang up front. Be nice to see a strong player who can frighten defenders with mad pace

never know we might end up like this

This is going to happen isn't Mirth. We'll end up with no one.

Aubameyang’s disruptive reputation set off some alarm bells inside the Emirates, but it is understood Mislintat, who worked as a scout at Dortmund for 10 years, has given the Gabon international a positive character reference.

Mislintat is believed to have assured Arsenal that Aubameyang is hard working and dedicated and that his current issues at Dortmund are not reflective of his normal personality.

From Matt Law's article in the Telegraph. Listen to ol' Sven, Arsene.

Oooh, gwan Auba! Push this through.

If there's legs to this, I wonder if they'll try and get Giroud to go the other way as a replacement? Think we'd be well up for that.

Cech

Bellerin Mustafi Mavropanos Kolašinac

Niles

Ramsey Wilshere

Özil

Lacazette Aubameyang

Can't we give them Xhaka and some money and take Wiegl too?

Imagine Giroud, Walcott and Welbeck leaving in the same window

Need a similar overhaul in midfield

how much would giroud be worth in the deal if he goes the other way?

supposedly auba is worth £40-50m. surely giroud knocks at least £15-20m off that?

Well the figure being talked about in the summer was £30m and we know Dortmund were seriously in for him because Giroud said so himself.

Coquelin is already in the out column remember.

Hopefully this is just the start. Lots and lots to get out the door.

olly going the other way makes sense. dortmund were interested in him in the summer from memory

these swap deals are usually written off as the stuff of championship manager. it would so arsenal to try and close 2 complex swap deals in the space of days 😆

you guys are really beacons of hope.
I wish a bit of that rubs off on me.

Giroud himself confirmed it:

He's also talked a lot about January and how important the World Cup is for him:

Giroud insists Deschamps simply wants him to play more, regardless of whether it’s at Arsenal or not and the striker says he’ll consider every opportunity in January.

‘I have the World Cup at the back of my mind weekly, almost daily. Each time I go onto the pitch, it’s to be more clinical and keep on track for the World Cup,’ said Giroud.

‘During international get-togethers, the coach usually warns me against that [leaving Arsenal for the sake of it]

‘He has told me the things he wanted to tell me, which is totally logical and I understand. He wants me to play more.

‘If I wasn’t able to leave this summer, it was because of the opportunities I had.

‘It wouldn’t have been good to leave for leaving’s sake, but it’s certain that eventually, even in January, I’m going to have to ask myself the question again.

‘It won’t be easy to find the right solution and take the right decision, but we’ll look at the opportunities.’

Swap's on! Works for everyone.

handed in a transfer request according to bild. would be bloody handy to have him in the squad for the next fixture

A few rags reporting that The Weng is dithering due to Aubameyang's apparent disciplinary issues and wants to pay 35m or so as opposed to 50m.

Not his place to worry about how much it costs anymore, his time is done. Excited by this, c'mon Sven no deadline day bullshit, let's get it done.
