If it means this guy comes in, though, I think it's worth it for all parties.
Aubameyang
Oh yeah, definitely. It objectively makes sense for everyone involved really. Olly and Kos are probably my favourite players though, it's a bit sad for me that their time at the club seems to be coming to an end.
[Matt Law] Arsenal close in on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as new head of recruitment insists they are not getting a bad boy
r 2Arsenal confident of signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after Dortmund talks. Gabon international could cost as much as £53.3m.
Borussia Dortmund will decide Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's future on Tuesday, says Guillem Balague
The morning scoop.
I'd be sad to see Giroud go.
Worse still would be for us to somehow fuck this up in a way that leaves everyone pissed off and no one having moved.
Aubameyang would be a great addition in the face of Sanchez's departure, it would increase the likelihood of another major signing in summer if anything. No one's going to come to an Arsenal without any quality players.
Burnsy, your last point is important. I think people really underestimate the value of having star anchors. If we can grab Aubameyang right now, we should because if we get to summer with Sanchez gone, Ozil leaving and Ramsey uncertain, then we will not attract anybody worthwhile. But if we have Aubameyang around, it paints a slightly different picture. At least we have a bonafide big name in the stadium.
I just wish we had been able to secure our backroom signings six months earlier. Better late than never, I guess
It'd help when trying to get Ramsey and Jack to sign new deals too. Show that we aren't happy to just plummet into midtable irrelevance.
Most importantly, it will help attract a new manager in the summer. Also, if Ozil is on the fence, should help massively that he can feed Aubameyang rather than Welbeck.

It would help if we sold Welbeck basically.
We would have to depend on Lacazette for Europa
We're doing that anyway right now.
So Aubameyang would be first team and Lacazette second team? Unless we find a way to fit both and Ozil in the starting lineup
So is this really happening?
I'm trying to muster up some interest in it but it's not remotely exciting

You've watched Wenger for over 20 years - you really don't think the most likely outcome is that one of them will be shifted out to the wing for no good reason?

Why could he not play? Dortmund were in the CL like United so why would one be cup tied and the other not?
Because Dortmund are in the EL with us.
He hasn’t played in it yet though, isn’t that the determining factor?
I do know that you can only register one player who has already played in UEFA comp. so we wouldn’t be able to register both regardless.
77 goals between Laca and Auba last season.
Yeah I always understood it was if the player had played in it. Dortmund haven't even had a game in it yet.
With Aubameyang in the side I’d fancy our chances of scoring at Old Trafford and away to spurs

No.

Doesn't matter.
The rule is that you can register maximum one player who has played for another team in a UEFA tournament this season, but that one player's previous club cannot be in the same competition as the new club.
Quincy's right, Aubameyang is ineligible.
Thanks for clarifying the rule.
Fix? Sounds so dodgy.
[Ruhr Nachrichten] Anthony Modeste, Olivier Giroud, and Michy Batshuayi on Dortmund's radar to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Aubameyang agreed personal terms with Arsenal but no bid has been received.
The Ruhr Nachrichten guy is apparently very reliable when it comes to stuff from Germany and Dortmund.
Also:
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been given permission to miss Friday’s Bundesliga match with Hertha Berlin. [BILD]
Not traveling with the team to Berlin for the game.
We might actually get him.
Aubameyang and one of Malcom/Mkhitaryan is way way better then what I expected(I expected to sell Sanchez and get nothing...so).
No bid has been received? Did we just forget we need to buy him first?
Expect we'll be quibbling over the price at 11.55pm on deadline day and end up missing out over 2 million. "We have Welbeck, Giroud is coming back so will be like a new signing and of course we don't kill Nketiah who is coming through. We look always for internal solutions."
I always wonder about that - I imagine the club and) Dortmund are in discussion which why we have permission to talk to the player. But the process hasn't progressed far enough for a final bid to be submitted. I doubt clubs submit bids until they think it has a good chance of being accepted
Michael Zorc (Dortmund director): "We find it disrespectful to speak about players of other clubs. There is no contact with Arsenal. We assume Arsène Wenger has enough to take care of with his own players."
Wenger literally said he doesn't want to talk about Aubameyang Such a weird comment by Zorc
He also said We'll announce it when it's done too.
No he didn't.
Didn't travel with the matchday squad
Dimarzio has tweeted all personal terms agreed, now just the fee to dortmund left. This is where we usually stick the landing right?
no idea who this guy is
What kind of crackpot ITK is this? Fat chance that Aubameyang comes here on a €60 million transfer and gets the same wages as Iwobi.
I believe figures being quoted are net
Edit - wait, 10m divided across 3 years? This bloke is confused i think
Di Marzio is saying 10m per season
Wenger promised him "world class reinforcements in the summer".
Imagine his surprise when he finds out Wenger meant signing Jonny Evans and Wilfried Zaha by that.
That's 170,000 pounds a week, Klaus. I doubt Iwobi is on that.
£10m over 3 years makes no sense at all. Has to be per season.
