Anyone give Louis Dunford a listen to other than The Angel (North London Forever song)?
Went to see him the other night and he was great. It's a real strange balance of songs. You've got a bunch where it's talking about drug taking, growing up and generally being a bit of a tearaway, which attracts the laddy/geezer football-type crowd, many of whom we clearly off their face and relishing in songs about drug taking. But then there's this really quiet, introspective side that is quite vulnerable and deals with his experiences of seeing the struggles of friends around him with addiction and sexuality, his own depression, and his friend dying in his arms after being stabbed when they were 16. I actually remember it, as some of the London based lot might, as his friend was Ben Kinsella and it got a fair bit more media coverage than usual due to his sister being an Eastenders actress at the time.
Some really nice storytelling in his songs. Worth a listen.
