Seems the rumours that everyone was fed up with him in the dressing room were true.

Either way, getting over Alexis is gonna be one of the easiest things we've done. Özil was, and remains, the one we absolutely can't lose.

I find it almost unbelievable that not one Arsenal player made mention of Sanchez departing on social media, let alone wished him well. Not one.

Even if they did actually care about him, it’s not a good look. Player leaves for your bitter rival and you wish him all the best. You would get caught up in the storm as well like Henry. My previous post was basically fake Twitter style rage - people won’t care about facts, etc. if, eg Wilshere wishes Sanchez well, he risks being on the end of a Twitter storm from people accusing him of not having the club’s best interests at heart. Better off staying quiet

Exactly. It's just PR to not be wishing our hated rivals well.

Doesn't he literally deny that?

He does. What I don't understand is when did Alexis claim that Henry told him to leave?

He never directly did, but it's not exactly a difficult inference to make when he makes the statement that he spoke to Henry about why he left for Barcelona and that he has now decided to leave for similar reasons. Btw, folks on twitter seem extremely confident that Ozil has signed a new contract and an announcement is forthcoming after the transfer window closes.

Who are these folks on twitter BWooley?

That would be huuuuuge.

A goodbye without a farewell message could do. There was too much noise about the friction with Sanchez for there not to be any truth in it. Now players don't have to get along but feels like Sanchez had no one on his side.

Exactly. So much is read into this social media shite, its pathetic.

Na, these guys are all friends. You can wish some well or say it was a pleasure playing with them without saying anything that'll piss people off too much.

There was definitely an issue there. Hopefully it makes a difference to results on the pitch.

Clear as day they didn’t like Sanchez. Why would you? He’s clearly a dickhead

They probaby figured he was taking the piss after that game against United where he lost possession 34 times. Which I'm sure he was. He wasn't in great form this season, but some of the performances he has put in were clearly sabotage just to get the club to sell him early.

Oh FFS. He's gone, he's at United now so fuck him he can break a leg for all I care but just stop with the bullshit. No one would be accusing him of sabotage or claiming he was past it if he'd signed a new deal this week. He's been mediocre this season, not terrible, mediocre, probably better than half the squad. Some good games, some terrible games, still 2nd top scorer.

Quite a few were saying he had lost a yard last season to be fair. He's clearly not the same player he was 18 months ago, when he was hands down the best player in the League.

Yup. Won't revisit history, he has been a great player for us, he has been poor since he haven't signed a new contract and he should be hated for those unclassy comments after leaving.

If we get Aubameyang we might. If we don't we'll really struggle for goals.

He was taking the piss in those games mate, and he refused to play for us early on too after the move to City fell through. He's mostly been absent or on the bench ever since the transfer window opened. I think he's been behaving like a horrid piece of work all season; his teammates seem to agree, and while I would have been willing to let it slide if he'd signed a new deal there's literally no reason to do him that courtesy now. He's just yet another unprofessional, petulant little shit. He's not the first and and he won't be the last.

I find myself agreeing with both Klaus and qs! here.

The revision agenda put forward by some on social media is pretty pathetic and comes across very bitter. He's been a very good player for us and even though his level dropped this season, which is also possible for non nefarious reasons, he's still been one of our most effective players this year.

Understand people's anger but we've lost one of our best players and the reality is as it stands we will be poorer for it. To claim otherwise is pretty disingenuous.

Whether it was sabotage or not (and for the record I don't think it was), he hasn't been very good this season, so it won't take a lot for Aubameyang to improve us. Hence we won't be poorer for it.

I don't think it's active sabotage but the guys head clearly hasn't been in it. I mean he insisted he wouldn't still be here by the end of the window, how can someone be focused and play their natural game when they're in that frame of mind? I read an article the other day that suggested his numbers are well down when it comes to his running stats over the last few months.

However good he was for the last 3 seasons he's clearly not been the same player this year whatever reason you want to attach to it. He's been largely counter productive to our football. If he's replaced with decent quality we'll be much better off.

This is from March last year and things have gotten considerably worse since - http://www.skysports.com/football/news/15118/10794349/alexis-sanchez8217s-running-and-sprint-stats-hint-at-arsenal-problem

Thats one way to look at it. Another way to look at it is we could be signing Aubameyang into a team with Sanchez and that wasn't about to lose Ozil. Like I say I don't care about Sanchez but the anger heading his way is misplaced and thats what annoys me.

I really don't think this club would've tried signing Aubameyang if Sanchez and Özil weren't leaving. I'm more mad at Arsenal than anyone for letting Sanchez go there, but if you're saying no anger should be heading Sanchez' way then I disagree.

Are you angry he's at United now? Or how do you think he's behaved in an unprofessional manner? Or both?

I think you are mistaken. His performances for Chile over the past year were even worse than his performances at Arsenal. So much so that as Chile failed to qualify for the WC a huge chunk of the blame was laid on Sanchez and his brutal drop in form. He was slower, more predictable, constantly running into blind alleys, and losing possession all over the place.

I think he's just probably burned out after not having a summer off in god knows how long.

So what you're trying to say is he's old n busted?

The former. I do belive he's an asshole too though, both Wenger and City have hinted to having an agreement with him, and he ends up at United. I think he probably tried his best, but I also think that his best this season hasn't been close to good enough, and that this comes from his head not being in the right place, like Goon said.

That's a good point. I remember he got booed by Chile fans really badly over the past year

I'm guessing Terry Henry wasn't too pleased to be dragged into this.

I guess the reaction to what he said was so incredibly stupid (people saying take down Henrys statue, etc) that he had to clarify.

Henry had to clarify too sadly. Social media gives a voice to some proper cretins.

Titi used to personally call journalists who criticised him in their match reviews. You can bet your bottom dollar that he got straight on the phone to Sanchez and gave him both barrels.

Good on him if he did. Sanchez and/ or his team had drafted a decent farewell message without it.

Can only imagine most of those guys had never experienced him playing for us and don’t have a real connection with him, some of the replies to his post were embarrassing.

you know, it makes me sad watching old clips of TH in his prime.. he was such an incredible blend of talent, speed, strength and finesse. He really was unplayable for much of the time

Ah yes, that's one I didn't think of. 6 months left and resigning around January. The longer it takes the less and less likely it is Mesut will sign.

Imagine Ozil signs his contract and then say "your turn", spins the contract around and the camera turns around and Aubameyang is sitting, ready to sign his contract.

I think Twitter would implode. The whole club would feel a boost.

Maybe.

Some of us still have higher aspirations than continuing the status quo though.
