He was taking the piss in those games mate, and he refused to play for us early on too after the move to City fell through. He's mostly been absent or on the bench ever since the transfer window opened. The club are to blame for that. When they sanctioned his sale to Man City on deadline day before calling it off due to being unable to find his replacement, they created a monster in Sanchez. Had they kept their stance which was to not sell him under any circumstances till the very end, and not cave in on deadline day when Man City came calling, we may not have seen that much change in his behavior or the dip in performances.

No CL = 0% chance of re-signing Ozil.
CL = some chance. I believe that he likes it in London and at Arsenal, but he obviously wants to be in a team that befits his talent.

It's negligent that we're in this position of losing him on a free transfer, having destroyed 100m in resale value. It absolutely cannot happen again. There's always someone else you can buy as long as you have the money. Players come and go all the time. I don't understand the desperate attachment. It's not only incredibly bad business, it's also pathetic.

Losing Ozil is not that big of a deal. Mhikitaryan is a solid replacement, and we can move on from having to carry a 10. I think a more well-rounded midfielder who can put in a defensive shift (like Rosicky and Hleb did) might even help us. It's the financial loss that really hurts.

The club looked for a similar professional response from Sanchez. I still don't agree with the approach but it has been fine with one player and not the other.

To be fair, Sanchez was also not using the press to engineer a move ala say, Adebayor. He was quite discrete about everything. In fact I remember him saying he was happy in London and was hoping to see out his contract with us.

 I think the club handled the whole thing terribly, they kept on flip flopping on their stance, how would that not affect a player?? Worst of all, they encouraged a bid from the evil empire, who couldn't believe we were actually going to do a deal with them according to reports. When the fuck are we going to stop selling them our best players ???

I wonder at times if Ozil isn't playing us..He probably suspects the club hierarchy would actively look to cash in the moment they become sure he isn't going to extend (see Sanchez), so he keeps on giving them the vibe he may sign and let it drag on till he is a free agent in the summer. Big Sol did the same to spuds. Really hope that's not case as we'll be losing a marvelous footballer.
