Ornstein tweet definitely looks written by the club. Embarrassing.
Shkodran Mustafi

Whatever the reason it's tinpot and pretty pathetic. If we have been rejected by this guy and vardy in the same winds it hardly says a lot for Wenger selling his vision to these players. Hardly surprising that we can't convince Ozil and Sanchez to sign up for more either.

source for this?
We are a laughing stock. Wengers playing us for fools and raking in a massive salary every year
his source is a horse, ofcourse ofcourse
although horse isnt looking so crazy. these tweets from ornstein do come across as the club trying to spin the situation. i wondered yesterday if our targets were giving us the vardy treatment

Don't believe the fraud horse.
Don't believe the horse or dean on transfers.
Let's wait till 31/8 then assess.
I'm confident we will get a defender and a striker. Wenger is crazy but he is not that crazy.
However, if this guy does actually reject followed by that cunt Vardy then we are totally fucked as a big club.
Am I the only one who took the David Oracle tweet as positive? WE NEED EVERY PENNY WE HAVE FOR OUR MADNESS!
It's club fed like every bit of info Ornstein gets. However I'm guessing it's their attempt to explain why they're not just paying up and trying to get good value after all the questions surrounding why we haven't signed him already. If the player is keen and he's our priority chances are we will still get him.
yea but we don't need to save £5m on a defender to buy a striker, unless our target is messi or ronaldo or bale. we have fucking £200m in the bank, £150m of it that could conceivably (yes, i know) be used to buy a new player. saving £5m on mustafi by waiting is fucking nonsense.
this clown from sky isnt giving up

Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi has agreed to join Arsenal. Discussions continue over fee. Omer Toprak & Simon Kjaer also Arsenal options
I assume it's a profit/loss issue rather than not being able to raise the capital. The PL FFP only allows a £15m loss over three years from what I recall. But yes, if there's a big striker signing on the cards we could easily sell someone if need be.
Mustafi and the madness in before the window closes! #believe

the last time we hedged on such a large scale, we missed out on both higuain and suarez. yes, we ended up with ozil but that was a late/fortunate development
the "madness" is thinking we'll do anything of note over the next 2 weeks.

Wenger's dad should have pulled out.
mdgoonah41 wrote:thats only partially true. from an accounting perspective, the transfer fee is spread over the course of the first contract signed by the player. but in some cases, the fee is paid up front entirely. for larger transfers, it is normally broken down into 2 or 3 chunks. if we paid £75m for james rodriguez, for instance, and he signed a 4 year deal, we'd put £18.75m of the fee on the books for the next 4 years, but we'd probably pay madrid in 2 installments. something like £40m this summer and £35m next summer.
i'm not talking about amortization. i'm talking about actual installment payments.

€24m in 2013, €15m in 2014 and €5m in 2015. also CL qualification bonuses, etc.
Suspect we are probably just pushing all our remaining deals to the last minute.
There's been lots of evidence over the years that Wenger believes doing so saves us money and that the issues with morale, preparation and tactical unity, never mind the risk of missing out on our targets altogether, don't outweigh that.
And yet as we all know we've had a significant number of high profile bad buys and bad misses because of this reckless policy.
And this policy also practically guarantees our squad is never quite complete. It's an approach which cost us the league last season, the only season in which we've been handed a massive opportunity to win.
Essentially, implementing this policy is deliberately choosing failure. And it's the fact we choose to fail that means Wenger must be gotten rid of utterly, not just sidelined but excommunicated. His ideology is poison to our chances.
Exact tweets by David Ornstein
"Arsenal yet to agree fee for Mustafi. #AFC considering Omer Toprak & Simon Kjaer as alternatives but Mustafi remains priority & keen to join"
"Price the issue. Arsenal want to hold back funds for possible striker signing. #AFC transfer budget factors in fee, salary, agent commission"
This is cringe worthy. Pure BS. Classless by club and Wenger
Cross says unlikely deal to be completed this week.
Just wonderful. Chambers and Holding again vs. Mahrez, Vardy and Musa?
I laughed at the budget factors in....
In other words, "Fans please be understanding..."
