Yes, what QS said.

The whole - "we have to go and get a White Walker to prove to Cersei (and probably Dany) that they're real" - storyline is annoying. Just fly a bloody dragon over the wall and have a look.

And it really looks like they're going to drag out the "secret" of Jon's parentage as long as possible. I suppose Bran can't send a raven to Jon with that info as it's too confidential, but still, Jon should be aware of this by now.

I liked seeing Gilly back too, and her revelation to Sam was nicely thrown in.

What was the letter?

the letter that cersei made sansa write in the first season... when ned is captured she made sansa write a letter to Rob.

Does GRRM still have a say on how the show plays out or ends? Will his version of events be different? Not really liking the new season if I'm being honest. We've had some great scenes and I'll see it through its end catching every episode as soon as its out but I'd be lying if I said that I'm not disappointed. The LF, Arya, Sansa storyline is dull AF. I'm actually glad they've made Dany a bit of a mad bitch but you just know they'll reign her in eventually. Bronn and Jaime getting away is just plain dumb too. You'd imagine Dany would have had him hunted knowing exactly where he had fallen. Cersei's character has been under utilised this season. You'd have thought she'd play a more central role after the way she brilliantly ended season 6. Instead she sits in a room with a banker and fucks her brother. They've butchered Tyrion. Use to look forward seeing him on screen. Not so much anymore. Then there's the Walkers who take an eternity to go anywhere and yet other characters on the show move at breakneck speed. Why introduce the Tarly's only to kill them before they do anything? Jon and his arc is the best thing going for the show at the moment. Everything else is just a little dull. Also, how pointless are the Greyjoy's? So many hours of screen time wasted on them.

i knew pacing would be a huge problem in this last run of episodes

the plot to capture a wight is one of the most moronic things the show has ever done. at least it will provide an action packed episode

The idea of capturing one to get everyone to wake up to the reality of the situation isn't so bad, the only weird aspect is Cersei and the fact that it's the whole basis around their plan.

I agree that the whol thing's mad, however it makes the sequence of things to come potentially interesting. We all assumed Cersei would be wiped out before the final battle vs the white walkers. It would be a huge surprise if there's a cease-fire while that battle happens, enabling Cersei to survive to the end and possibly develop a trump card. It's still odds on that she loses, because of the valonqar prophecy, but keeping her in the game until post-white walker war is not something I expected.

I'm really enjoying this season. Good fun and moving fast, plus not as weighed down by the books. I don't tend to take the show very seriously or over analyse the plot etc. That combo of characters going beyond the wall should get pretty interesting. I also don't mind the Sansa/Arya/Littlefinger bits either - could go a number of ways.

Littlefinger has kind of been ruined as a character. Too much smirking.

I predict the Band without Banners will all die, as will red beard. Hound will survive so he can return to Kings Landing for Cleganebowl. Gendry might die too because it seems like he was forgotten about, or Martin lost interest in him over the course of the books. Jon and Jorah survive just cos. Oh and maybe the lads use the Lord of Light to resurrect someone.

I hope Gendry doesn't snuff it yet. Would make him a very pointless character.

The teleportation is just silly now. Anyone can get anywhere in the blink of an eye.

Yeah. This is really detracting from the sense of scale for me, makes the whole thing feel like it's taking place on a set a couple of hundred metres across. Which is a shame because of all the shooting on diverse locations they seem to do!

This show is a bit of a let down, but I'm glad it's rattling along, I'll be pleased when it's finally over.

For a minute I thought Gendry was played by Christian Bale.

haha 😆 now that you put that in my mind, I cant see it any other way.

I got mad fassbender vibes. must be the weight loss

The priest who resurrects people will probably die and maybe Beric Dondarrion too (honestly, what's the point of him on the show?) but i can't see Tormund bite it. He's the main reason the wildlings accept the truce with Jon and the watch.

When I saw Gendry I thought it was Podrick actually. Podrick looks like he's become chubbier in recent seasons but I always used to think he was the bastard who fled Kings Landing with Arya all those years ago.

Was wondering how he lost weight and ended up back in the steel factory so quickly acter being in Winterfell a couple episodes ago. So yeah, guess there are two of them now lol.

Yeah I got caught by that too.

I'm thinking the end of this bit of the season is going to have to heavily foreshadow the prophecy elements, so quite probably something that relates to that will happen out beyond the Wall.

I heard others saying Tormund can't die because he's the only narrative link to the wildling army but I don't think it matters. We don't have a single Dothraki character of note any more.

Ep 6 leaked. Looks better than the ep 4 leak.

Finally all caught up on GOT, downloading the leak now and I'll probably watch it later on tonight.

My thoughts so far:

The pacing is really fast, it's great that things are moving along but it all feels a bit rushed. I fear that this is only going to get worse, I can't see how they can properly tie everything up in the 2 episodes that are left plus the final season.

Have they changed director? All of the combat scenes are filled with annoying jump cuts. So infuriating to watch.

Jaime should be fucking dead. Complete bullshit that a guy in full plate armour manages to swim out of that lake/river and then completely avoid detection in order to return to King's Landing.

Great to see confirmation that Jon is the legitimate heir to the Iron throne, it will be interesting to see how dany reacts to that bombshell 😆 Presumably they'll marry and rule together, Jon in the North and Dany in the south or something like that.

Gonna have to watch ep six now. Ep 4 leaks were all over youtube.

Just remember not to post anything about it on here until it airs in the US. I'm going to wait it out.

I think they're going to be enemies.

Appearently the leak is from the Spanish HBO affiliate aired episode 6 by mistake yesterday. That is some fuckup, heads will roll if that is true.

The part about the dothraki is fair but the point still holds true. With Mance and Ygritte long gone Tormund is the only wildling they have invested any time in. With the amount of screentime to take place at the wall this coming season theres bound to be scenes involving the wildlings so I can't see Tormund kicking it yet. I was positive he wouldn't die during the Battle of the Bastards for this reason and I'm pretty sure still.

Something has to happen at the wall too. Otherwise they wouldn't have left Davos there.

I've just been given a memory stick. What to do?

Don't worry, won't post anything in here until next Tuesday.

it's a quality leak apparently. i'm watching asap, idgaf

chances are the last ep will leak soon too 😆

Watched it last night. There is a bad audio version doing the rounds so make sure you get the good one. Apart from that its perfect.
Another great episode too. Really enjoyed seeing the dragon taken down and turned. It makes for the white walkers breaking the wall more believable.

Sansa vs Arya is something I didn't see coming in this way either. Really interested to see how that plays out next week.

And now Dany knows that Jon was stabbed in the heart. Its been constantly mentioned this season, has to add up to something.
just a general observation but since they've overtaken GRRM it feels like the dialogue has gotten worse and the plotting more haphazard

feel like the home stretch will skate by on pure spectacle and fan service, but lack any emotional heft

How much emotional heft has there been really though? I don't think this season has any less than other seasons. In fact I think I'm starting to care more the less bored I am of them all.

May I suggest ... watching Twin Peaks ...

Have to say I agree. I'd become a little numb to it all for a long time but this season I feel more of a connection to the characters.

Could easily be talking about Arsenal there. In fact, I genuinely thought I was in an Arsenal thread, scrolling up and seeing BW suggest Tw-n P-ks, still didn't register I was in TV Land.

To be fair Burn posting about Twin Peaks doesn't really narrow down the possibilities.
