Sounds tempting, but I do not see daylight between Kos today and Varane in 5 years. Kos is best post invincible central defender we have had. I would hesitate to give that up for someone who might one day be better.

Varane is arguably better right now. After a season as a starter he would be better than Koscielny ever was. Kos is amazing but we're talking about a potential world beater with Varane.

Anyway I do agree it would hurt us in the short-term because Koscielny is a better complement to our attempt at a defense than Varane would be.

Gala has ruled out signing Podolski. Too bad. That is one paycheck we really need to get off our books.

The way Podolski's loan spell at Inter panned out suggests that there won't be a lot of clubs that will be interested in him. His age profile and wage demands don't help either.

There's a very high chance we could be stuck with him and Wenger might try to shoe horn him into the team as well. Boo.

I'm sure F.C Koln would take him back for a low price, and he would maybe take a wage cut to go there too.

Wenger didn't even pick him while he was a bonafide member of the squad, I doubt he would he'd be bothered enough to shoe horn him next year when it's clear he's not in our plans. If we can't sell him chances are he'll go out on loan again.

It's like when he doesn't want to be Bony but is forced to be, Doc.

Don't worry fellas I know English isn't your first language, no shame in not recognising some of the words.

😆 uppity fuck. Spell it right if it's your first language 😛

Whats this about Wilfried Bony?

i think there is a less than 1% chance podolski is still here when the summer tranny window closes.

Any loan deal would most likely have us pay a substantial part of his wages though. That's why I liked the Gala rumor.

Ah Diaby. Could have been a good player for us. I think he has one of the highest Talent*Injuries product ever.

Favourite Diaby moment, possibly. Other than the Terry boot, that is.

Theo's now our longest serving player.

Was about to mention this one, his last great performance.

I have nothing against Diaby but it's a great relief to see him gone from the squad.

The full list of players we let go today.

Ajayi Oluwasemilogo Adesewo
Diaby Vassiriki Abou
Jebb Jack
Lipman Austin
Miyaichi Ryo
Ormonde-Ottewill Brandon
Vickers Josh

Amen. Technically inconsitent, tunnel-visioned player who was ridiculously weak for the most part considering his huge frame. For every year he's been away from the pitch the legend about his performances on it has grown.

I might be confusing him with someone else, but wasn't Jebb considered as elite talent in our youth ranks not much time ago?

He was, but that was 5 years ago. Didn't progress at all as was hoped. Will still do alright for himself lower down the leagues though I'm sure. Decent technique, especially from set pieces. Was never going to make it here.

No other surprises on the list in terms of young players, Ryo was a tale of injury woe that might pale by comparison to Diaby's but would certainly have been too much for many youngsters to over come.

Good luck to them all. Especially Abou (but I'm glad we've done the right thing and FINALLY let him go!).

Ryo is really unlucky, 3 serious injury in 2 years was too much for him to bear and affected his growth.

Feel sorry for Diaby. Despite getting paid, I think what he will regret the most throughout his career is never to fulfill his immense potential.

Can't help but feel a pang of disappointment about Diaby. Just sad that he never fulfilled his potential. We will.never know how good he could have been.

But unquestionably the right decision.

Imagine how could Bendtner could have been if only he'd been severely injured.

You sure you didn't mix up those two adjectives? Diaby was very skinny and lanky but pretty much impossible to shove off the ball.

Feel for him, he seemed like a humble great guy. In Wenger's interviews you could see that he thought of him almost as a son, probably because Diaby also cared about little but football. Hope he can find a club somewhere.

it's always sad when someone doesn't get to fulfil their talent due to injury. i don't think he would have been a world-beater, but he could have been a decent option for us in the last few years.

He still does, he's offering him another contract.

I actually don't mind too much. If he is offered a new contract, it is likely to be a very, very small wage packet, and it isn't like he will block anyone from being signed.

Having said that, I think it would be best for both parties if Diaby left; even if he miraculously were to stay fit, he would be far from nailed on to get meaningful playing time. It would make more sense for him to go somewhere where he would actually get to play if he was fit.

It's a pointless exercise for everyone involved for him to still be at the club come pre-season. Totally ridiculous. Surely at this juncture, Wenger should be emabarrased by the amount of the club's money he has wasted on sanctioning new contract after new contract for the man? Grow a pair of balls, Arsene, and do the right thing ffs.

I'll take that as a "no source" just paranoia then 🙂
