Sounds tempting, but I do not see daylight between Kos today and Varane in 5 years. Kos is best post invincible central defender we have had. I would hesitate to give that up for someone who might one day be better.

Varane is arguably better right now. After a season as a starter he would be better than Koscielny ever was. Kos is amazing but we're talking about a potential world beater with Varane.

Anyway I do agree it would hurt us in the short-term because Koscielny is a better complement to our attempt at a defense than Varane would be.

Gala has ruled out signing Podolski. Too bad. That is one paycheck we really need to get off our books.

The way Podolski's loan spell at Inter panned out suggests that there won't be a lot of clubs that will be interested in him. His age profile and wage demands don't help either.

There's a very high chance we could be stuck with him and Wenger might try to shoe horn him into the team as well. Boo.

Wenger didn't even pick him while he was a bonafide member of the squad, I doubt he would he'd be bothered enough to shoe horn him next year when it's clear he's not in our plans. If we can't sell him chances are he'll go out on loan again.

Doubt we will get a fee close to the reported 10mil we were offered last season but at least there should be no problems moving him on.
