Oscar is another Chelsea player I wouldn't mind having. I think he's fantastic.
Petr Cech
Where would he play here? I think he's great too, although Mourinho is doing his best to ruin him.

Disagree with that. Think it's a bargain for someone of his class who as a goalkeeper could give us 5 top seasons (maybe even a couple more) then retire. Doesn't always have to be a resale option. United signed Van der Sar 2 years older and he gave them 6 years with 4 league titles and a Champions League. For that reason I would expect them to be all over him if De Gea goes.
Agreed, he is 32 which for a keeper is the age they usually at their prime. He can easily give us 4/5 top class seasons at that age and £10m for that is a bloody good deal. Yes he isn't the same player since before his injury but he is still probably in the top 3 or 4 keepers in this league and a hell of a lot better than what we already have.
I've mentioned the Van der Saar example before as well, came in and gave Man Utd stability while they found the best young keeper they could buy.
Yeah but if anyone thinks Wenger will pay 10M for a 32 year old or for a goalkeeper they haven't been paying attention.
Were you paying attention before he dropped 40m pounds on a playmaker?
Eh, what does that have to do with anything?
What the fuck has a 32 year old goalkeeper got to do with a 26 year old playmaker?
If José sells Cech to us I'd be thinking that he'd be doing so in the belief that Petr's not going to bring us any closer to the title.

Paying attention to what exactly?

Nothing to do with Jose, he has made it quite clear he doesn't want the player to leave for another PL club. This is the owner decided

Well we signed a soon to be 34 yr old Lehmann for 3m, which pretty much matches up when you take inflation and wealth into account.

Not sure, but I'm leaning towards the left flank maybe. Get Alexis back on the right. I think part of the reason he doesn't work under Mourinho is because he doesn't get enough elbow room to be creative. Combining with someone like Özil would do him a world of good.

Abramovich has said that he'd be willing to sell Cech to Arsenal?
i think its nearly impossible to know what cech's level is right now. he basically sat on the bench for an entire season and he was inconsistent when he played. if he comes here and plays 40 games next season he might be great or he might struggle. his numbers in 2013/14 were not very impressive, for what its worth, and he was first choice that entire season
Think it's fairly easy to know Cech's level. The season before this he was the best keeper in Premier League. He was just a bit unfortunate that Chelsea also owned the best keeper in Europe.
I'm surprised how highly Cech is rated on here. He's been on a downward spiral since Euro 2008 (those two goals in let in v Croatia were ridiculous).
Before then and before his injury he was class but that was nearly ten years ago!
In 2013/2014 he was terrible v PSG away and made a big glaring mistake.
I rather keep our two goalies than sign the Chelsea number 2 .
That's not true, he's had a few world class seasons since 2008 and being the best/second best goalkeeper in the league quite comfortably. He did go off the boil the season before last though.
He was also Chelsea's player of the year in 2011 as well. Voted for by their fans
I've read that Cech would like to join Arsenal and he gets on well with Ambrovich who could be kind enough to let him join a direct rival. Naturally I'm suspicious of any nice gesture from that scummy club.
I think we have to treat this as if we were interested in one of Ferguson's players a few years ago. I.e. if Cech is allowed to join us, he's probably not worth having.
The difference is this isn't a Wenger managing a shoestring budget trying to make the most of Silvestre, etc. We would be nuts to ignore Cech. Ospina has never been tested and he has had enough eyebrow -raising moments. Id take him over everyone not named De Gaea or Courtois.
The point isn't about what Wenger's trying to do, but what makes sense for Chelsea. Of course if Cech is the next best GK after De Gea and Courtois we would be nuts to ignore him. And equally Chelsea would be nuts to hand him to us.
It's about mutual respect between Cech and Chelsea though. He's only got a year left; what do they gain by forcing him to stay on the bench and then see him join Arsenal or United in the summer of 2016 instead? They'll just come across as the assholes who mistreated a club legend after making him superfluos to their own needs.
