What a baller. Can you imaging him actually staying back then. Overmars leaving was fine, he was a permacrock and Pires was better for us anyways but Petit was just elite. Luckily we ended up getting Gilberto in the end after the world cup but Petit-Viera could have been so much better.

Some former players had a better day. Xhaka scored a screamer as he won the Bundesliga (cue the memes about players leaving Arsenal and winning leagues immediately etc) and even Maitland-Niles of all people scored the winner in the 16th(!) minute of injury time for Lyon.

Former youth player and bench warmer Omari Hutchinson seems to have had a decent season at Ipswich (think he's one Championship POTM a couple of times). Shame it didn't work out for him with us (not sure why we weren't able to send him out on loan).
