It's a big shame. The gap between us and the best just gets bigger every year.

I'm just glad Pogba left Man United.

Pogba wasn't good at all. Nowhere to be seen in the 1st half, and just a bit better in the 2nd half for some of his moments against Alves.

Still all potential for me.

I think Pogba has the potential to be the best in the world if Messi and Ronaldo ever slows down.

If we really want Pogba, we can buy him. Sell Wilshere for £25m, top up with £35m. Drop Diaby. Sorted on wages and transfer fees. How much are we willing to sacrifice to get one or two really special players?

How much? Definitely not Wilshere, that's all I know.

Then we don't really want him.
Wilshere is a guy who doesn't start when everyone is fit. Pogba would be one of the first three names on the team sheet every weekend. If you're not willing to sacrifice a 12th man for a guy who will be FifPro regular for the next half decade, then you're not about taking the risks needed to win

Nah, looks as though Barca have got their claws in to Pogba. £60m and 150k a week barely brings us to the negotiating table, and if we can't offer significantly more than them why is he going to choose us over Messi, Suarez and Neymar?

Why would Ozil choose us over the star assembly at PSG? A really aggressive summer of Pogba and Benzema puts our team at least on par with Chelsea. Plus we generally play better football and have a team with a good 5 year window. We can tell a compelling story but we need to back it up with purpose and Pounds

We've got different strengths to offer over PSG. Not a valid comparison.

I agree that we can be a lot more aggressive in the transfer window now, the signings of Ozil and Sanchez prove that, but we still won't be able to fend off Barcelona, Real. You underestimate the draw of those two clubs

Because we're a bigger club than PSG, play in a better league and by the time PSG came in for him the deal was virtually complete.

Now, to my question; Realistically, why would Pogba choose us over Barcelona?

And he wont. We have no business with Pogba in case Barca/Real come in for him.

The question is why we would we spend 60% of our budget on a player that wouldn't improve us by much?

Pogba is good and will be great, but if we want to challenge next season then he's not the player we should go for.

I must say as much as I want us to win things and be the best there is, I struggle to be so unsentimental and business like about it. I want us to win things with Jack.

Put it this way, if you told me that if all we need to do is sign John Terry and we'd go down as the best and most successful team of all time, to the point where the current Barcelona team look like a pub side, I'd tell you to fuck off.

So would I. 🙂

Amen Brother, the simple explanation is always the best.

It's all very simple. If you want to win things you don't sell talents like Jack - you sign them. Comparing him to duds like Diaby is just not on. He's got more talent in his weak foot than Diaby has in his entire body.

John Terry? That escalated very quickly. I'd rather finish 5th and get crabs than have that guy around.
