He may be off.

Even if he's not, he's been the most professional and loyal player we've had at the Arsenal for quite a while. Great warm personality. Lovely smile. And of course best of all, a solid fucking defender.

Rock Sagna. Thank you.

Remember that time when his brother died just before his birthday? 2008 I think it was. Just before that classic 2nd leg Champion's League game vs AC Milan. We won 0-2 at the San Siro! Whole team was on point that night, but Sagna, despite his loss, still put in a defensive master class performance. Remember that?! Was on the PFA team of the year that season as well. This man always put Arsenal first. For all y'all talking shit about not respecting him if he leaves for City or wherever, fuck off. If anyone deserves his payday, it's this cat. Defended like his life depended on it all game, every game. I'm one of the critics of the attacking side of his game, but when you can defend like this guy can, and has, on a consistent basis for close to a decade, then all your critics, flobaba included, can fuck right off too!

Hope the club does right by him and gives him what he wants. If not, fare thee well Bac.

Rock Sagna. Thank you.

"That is magnificent. That is absolutely stunning..."

Hopefully we give him a trophy to leave with. Also hope he moves abroad.

Funny that despite his solidity and sometimes his heroics in defence I'll remember him most for scoring that header that launched our comeback in that pivotal game against Spurs.
We were on our knees in that game, and prior to that game, all the bs about powershifts and us losing our way.
He was integral to stopping that particular rot and changing our fortunes around.

Cheers Bac 🙂
Hope whoever replaces him will be at the minimum at least as loyal and reliable.

Nice one, Klaus. Keep the videos gifs and pictures coming.

Best Arsenal rightback I've seen.

I know it's stupid, but still secretly hoping for a u-turn.

Was bugging me today: we haven't even seen a lot of his CB act. But we just know he's going to be a beast for who ever gets him, and we're going to be thinking: should have signed him even if speed was going. The man is a lion - physically, and at heart.

He can go wherever he wants, I'll always be grateful.

I said it many times before: to me he's the best RB we ever had.

Even though he's pretty much earned the right to do whatever the fudge he wants at this point, it would definitely hurt to see him play for another club in the PL

Best RB I've seen play for us. Just shades it above Dixon. Colossus of a defender.

It will be sad to see him play for another team.

Love Sagna to bits. What a warrior.

I can't wait to see him lift that FA Cup next week. There isn't a player in the squad who deserves it as much as he does.

Love his goal against Spurs too - you could tell he just said "fuck, this shit....not against Tottenham". 😃

Best I could find - goal deserves better!

Don't think thats up for debate. Its pretty obvious.

I can only echo what everyone has said, he has been a great servant of the club and a model professional through a very dark era.
This is the way to leave, with dignity and none circus acts of some other clowns, it remains for us to see the exact facts of this matter, what was he offered to stay? Where does he go? When we know there will be more to say on this.

He's the perfect guy for teams like Pool and Citeh that are in danger of flouting FFP rules to throw money at. Would be sad to see him elsewhere in league.

Who has been a more consistent and likable servant in the barren years?

Diaby's been very loyal and consistent.

Consistent - Wenger, but likable.....:\

Been a solid player for, a shame he has decided to leave. Guy has given us the best years of his career and always been a reliable player for us.

Think we made him a decent enough offer but there will be clubs out there more desperate and tbh we need to look beyond him now anyway.

JazzG wrote:

That remains to be seen.

I will put my appreciation on hold. If he moves to another PL club, it'll probably be put on hold forever.

Love that clip but first thing that comes to my head is why the fuck is that keeper coming out for the ball? Then I remembered who our keeper used to be....

Judging by how many players we have resigned in the past 1.5 years I'd think the offer was decent enough. But if he wants more you can't blame the guy, probably his last big contract. Though I may not feel that way if he joins City...

the end of the season has made it clear to me that we must pay. the boy is strong and consistent. 2 to 3 years contract should be fine. we don't need to be meddling with a defense that can keep clean sheets in half the games it plays.
i also don't trust management to find a RB fit to lace Bac's boots

He can go to any club except Spurs and still be a hero in my opinion.

Wonder how soon he gets called a cunt by our fans.

He'll captain Tottenham to the Premier League title next season.

Touré and Gallas didn't exactly cover themselves in glory either. Probably the most dysfunctional back five we've had under Wenger.

Best RB i've seen at the club also IMO.

But as regards his contract issues-

He signed a 6 year deal reportedly b/w 50-60k a week in 2008. Now he could have been justified in asking for a rise on that by 2010 or 2011. And at that time he'd probably have been given a long term big contract. Now even as loyal Sagna is money is clearly important to every footballer and understandably so. I wonder why he didn't go and ask or negotiate an extension with the club around that period. My thinking is that he probably didn't want to commit his future and was looking at other options. Inter definitely had interest in him (2008-9ish) prior to that financial mess they got into and would have probably made a move if Maicon had moved to Madrid. We wouldn't have sold in the league and maybe he was a less fashionable signing for the bigger european clubs which is why nobody pushed hard for him in the continent over the next few years. Again just my thinking.

Gunner89 wrote:

Because he broke his leg. Twice.

Rock. Legend. Hero.

One of my favourite Arsenal players ever, absolute warrior on the pitch. Sad to see him go.

Really special player who I have always felt is the only post Invincibles player we have had who would have improved that first 11. That was a masterclass from him today at centre back and he could go on for years there. Disgraceful from the club to let this happen but he more than most deserves one last big payday and hopefully a few medals to show for his career.

Loyal player and the only world class one who stayed when times were shit. Always fit and always gives you a solid performance. Whoever gets him next season is very lucky.

Best OP i have seen in a while.

Same for me and hope he does a Toure and plays shit on purpose for whoever he goes to.

A soldier and a monster of a player, will be incredibly sad to see him go.

Opening post was class and says it all really.

His rehabilitation this season has been remarkable. 😆

Love this guy. I wish more of our players would emulate his professionalism, regardless of their ability.

"Through many peoples and many seas have I travelled
to thee, brother, and these wretched rites of death
I bring a last gift but can speak only to ashes
Since Fortune has taken you from me
Poor brother! stolen you away from me
leaving me only ancient custom to honour you
as it has been from generation to generation
Take from my hands these sad gifts covered in tears
Now and forever, brother, Hail and farewell."

It's been pretty obvious he'd be off at the end of this season for about two years. If he goes to City as predicted, we'll have to hope his career declines even faster than our manager seems to think it will.

How much will a good RB cost? Surely more than giving him what he wants ... ?

But I guess he wants to leave and you can't blame the guy we are 4th place through and through like Blackpool rock.

As I recall he broke his leg at the end of 2011 which was about 3 and a half years after he signed that deal in 2008
