Don't think Benz is aggressive enough for them, they'll go for some sparky dribbler imo.

Yup only one year left on his contract. Which is why around the £30m mark he should be available

No way. Might have been the case if we were the only club interested, but I can see us, Liverpool, Juventus, PSG, Monaco and others (such as City, Chelsea, Man u etc) all potential destinations. Fee will be at least £40-45 mill.

It's really just us and Chelsea in the market for a big striker, and Mourinho's not looking for a Benzema type. When everyone was thinking about Costa a couple months ago it was obvious that Chelsea were favorites to sign him, but I think we'd be the only serious bidders for Benzema. It's more a question of does Benzema become available IMO.

Juventus are definitely looking for a new striker and you never know what PSG, Monaco and City will do. Liverpool will also be looking for a replacement if Suarez leaves. We will not get Benzema for £30 mill. I guarantee that.

Does Juve have the needed cash for that without falling foul of the FFP regulations? Klaus?

Why do Juve need strikers? They just bought 2 last summer and have at least 5 on their books with 11 other promising ones loaned out.

Juve aren't buying in that range. Benz is gonna be on big wages too.

No club in Serie a is paying 25m let alone 40m. Besides they have Tevez, Llorente, Vucinic, Quaglierella plus half of Immobile who they will look to get most likely should any of the latter 2 leave.

Maybe they can afford that amount if we buy Pogba or Vidal from them. Hehehe

Point is: if Madrid want Suarez (or Falcao or Agüero) and are looking to offload Benzema who has 1 year left then we are serious contenders to get him. Definately main contenders. We have the cash, we have the need, we have the manager who has known him since he was a kid.

I'm sure a certain Parisien club would get involved, as would Liverpool, Chelsea and possibly United. We have never been favourites for a big name star. Don't see that suddenly changing

We were the only ones in for Suarez and, other than PSG, we were the only ones in for Ozil. Both are on another level to Benzema. Why is it that whenever we're linked to a top player on here it's assumed on here that 70 other clubs will be interested?

Because Özil going to Arsenal had more to do with him wanting to work with Wenger. And we still probably would have fallen short if the transfer had hit the papers a week earlier and other clubs had more time to convince him and his agent to join them instead. There's a reason we were so eager to keep it quiet.

If Suarez release clause had been true I'm sure others would have paid the amount too.

Chelsea are definately going for Costa. United have strikers. PSG have strikers. Liverpool can fuck off. Im sure Benzema would prefer working with Wenger aswell.

Look, there's no need to go nuts discussing every detail. Point is, we have much going for us in case he is on the move.

Klaus: Not sure I agree. At the end of the day £40m+ is a huge amount of money for any club, even the oil ones. Reports that Utd had been offered Ozil earlier in the summer but turned it down, PSG held an interest, but it was only half hearted. On Suarez, last summer he simply wasn't viewed the same way he is now and £40m seemed to be approaching the limit of his worth.

As for Benzema, if circumstances dictate that he's available this summer and Wenger really wants him, imo a £30m bid would put us right in the box seat. Don't think its a sure thing that any other club would be prepared to go much beyond that.

My take on the Ozil transfer is that we made a great financial effort to get him and he, and his people, appreciated that (all players want to be wanted).

I also think Madrid preferred to sell to us. We're not as big as them and, in their eyes, not a threat to their CL aspirations.

It's also far easier to explain to their fans why they sold one of their best players to us than to Manu or PSG (those were the clubs linked with Ozil if a remember right).

30m pounds will not start any conversation for Benzema, even with one year left on his contract.
Madrid will spend 70m pounds on Suarez, and then commit another 60m pounds to his wages. Who knows what other payments will have to be made. Madrid will want to recoup some of that.
Should be interesting. With Barca allowed to buy players, I can see them trying for Suarez as well

It doesnt matter if its £30m, £35m or £40m. If we are intrested we can do it.

They have, but they won't do it. They will bring in Ciro Immobile, the current top scorer in Serie A, instead. And they will do it for free because they aldready own most of his license. That's how they do business nowadays. It's why they own so many young players.
