To be honest, no one actually knows what happened internally on this one, it's pure speculation.
If he's the best striker we can get, I'd take him.

Don, it doesn't matter what happened internally. Even if Wenger called him an ass-faced moron. That's irrelevant
Would you guys rather sign rvp or Adebayor?
Adebayor was so cool for us. Laugh a minute that lad.

Why is it irrelevant? It would provide context for everything that happened.

this is one of those would you rather eat poop or drink piss questions. i'd prefer the consequences of doing neither
@ Don, how in the hell is Van Persie the only striker in the world we can get?
The context is he joined Man Utd- That's all there is to it.
You're not thinking straight.

I didn't say that. I said if he's the best we can get, depending on who is available.
Well, by the sound of it he wanted to win stuff and United were his only option. Not ideal but it's been proved to be correct. But as I said, we don't really know what went on.
United were not his only option. Fact.

Yeah, because you know that for a fact?

No he chose United.
The scum chose united. Wouldn't have minded much if he joined City.

van persie, without a moment's hesitation.
Fuck this prick. It's clearly nonsense, so lock it up.

Get your head out of the sand. Multiple reports around the time of teams that were vying for his signature. We're talking about a player who just won the two player of the year awards, who was actively trying to leave his club with a year left on his contract. If you honestly think united were his only option you're having a laugh.

... and there were also reports saying how all those teams dropped out as they weren't prepared to meet out asking price. Who knows what the actual truth was.
Anyways this is going round in circles, believe what you want.
RvP chose United because Meulensteen convinced him to join. Known fact.
I think Man U appealed to him a lot more than Citeh ever did, tbh. Think Gazidiz hinted at some event that Man City offered RVP silly money too. They were certainly willing to match our asking price.
City don't seem at all interested in massive transfers of superstars to me. And i don't think they will be until they're done with Yaya or Aguero. Who else is on big money over there?
Don't know about that, but I fail to see what that has to do with this discussion about RVP's transfer. They spend in excess of that amount of money pretty much every window on a single player.
