Apparently Kees Vos has said the rumor is nonsense and that RVP will likely end his career at United.

No chance of that.

I would pay nothing to bring him back.

Loved him as a player here, but he burned his bridge and can live it out at the shit pile at united.

I knew this rumour was a load of bollocks, still didn't stop some tentatively coming out from under their rocks.
May as well lock this up now, that arsehole will never play for us again.

i'd take van persie back in a second. hates to lose, loves attractive football, was our best captain since vieira, technically perfect. doesn't accept bullshit, even from wenger, which is something we need.

and if wenger lets sagna and vermaelen go without bringing in adequate replacements, he can just re-release the same letter from the summer he left 😃

Bet that Tancredi fella has never had so many listeners for his podcast. lol.

Wouldn't take RVP back for free. Fuck that let him rot at United.

Fair play Kami you always had to guts to try and defend him, but there will always be some opportunists who sense that it might've been safer to show their true colours when we were linked with him.

most agreed with what van persie said at the time, even if making it public was in bad judgment. people here will be saying the same things about wenger this summer after a failed title run and no trophies, with sagna and vermaelen leaving the club and replacements hard to come by in a world cup year.

the hypocrisy is blatant. yea, how dare someone criticise arsenal's lack of transfer spending and refusal to go for the title instead of 4th place? cast a pox on that guy...

It was never about that Kami, he went to our hated rivals. To let our best player and captain go to them to win them the title, then bring him back....maybe just me but I'd find it very hard to support anything about this club again if Wenger did it.

Comparing fans talking on a forum to the club captain putting out that letter is utter nonsense.

QS, I agree with Kami here. I appreciate van Persie voicing concerns because at the end of the day, Wenger and Gazidis don't give two shits about what Claudius or QS have to say. The captain can speak as loudly as 10,000 faceless fans can. The thing with van Persie for me is the United move. He had to know better than to do that. This isn't Italy. The one mitigating factor for him might be that Wenger potentially diminished the significance of such a move by willingly selling players to Chelsea and Citeh before

You won't find a bigger critic of Wenger and his profits before trophies policy than me, but him going to Man Utd didn't worry Wenger he got his money he was happy and encouraged us to respect him when we next played.
But for us it was just like he took a giant dump in our faces, so fuck him I hope his leg falls off and has to retire.

That's the thing you won't find a more media savvy player than van persie. He was very aware how arsenal fans would take it if he went to united. He did it anyways. Shows a complete lack of respect to the fans. So fuck him.

If it was down to Giroud OR RVP then what?

I'd take back beelzebub if he scored goals from nothing.

If if if Van Persie had one good season here now he is he's getting old and his hair is turning grey. Ask yourself why he doesn't grow a beard or a pair of sideburnswinters.

But it's not.

I don't do pointless philosophical exercises.

The argument is that there are players with better longevity and a less tainted history that we can sign. If we don't then shame on Arsenal.

van Persie is old and tainted
Cavani, Falcao, Costa, Martinez, Benzema, Balotelli, Michu, Rossi...
... the list of people who can play our offense better than Giroud is endless. some are not so attainable (e.g., Cavani), but their transfers will open up opportunities to snag some of the less illustrious names on that list. we don't need this backstabber van Persie. we have viable, younger options

And if he had any genuine want for Arsenal to improve he'd have said those things in private. That open letter had nothing to do with backing up the fans, it was a move put out there to agitate for a move and he thought he could pull the wool over a few fans eyes at the same time. Sure a few gullible types bought it but most seen it as the cynical stunt it was. In the end he had options to go to Italy but the money wasn't good enough so he allowed United and City to have a price war for him, not a transfer fee war though, nope he made sure we knew he'd go wherever he felt like so he could make them bid it out for his wages.

And if its a choice for RVP or Giroud I'd take Giroud. In reality though thats not the choice at all. We have our pick of most of the strikers in the world. That people want an ageing, injury prone traitor out of all that is baffling.
