wow, only we would haggle over a free transfer up to deadline day

Read somewhere he wants 75k p/w.

tell flamini to fuck off and sign a class midfielder...

This is honestly embarassing. No wonder we cant sign world class players - they all probably avoid us since we dont offer anywhere near the market value.

And with Flamini - 3 year deal, he better not be on high wages then (above 50k).

Flamini for £0 or Cabaye for £15m-£20m. Difference in their quality is definately not that big. I doubt we were ever in for more players in midfield than one so it all makes perfect sense. For Wenger.

Difference in quality not big 😆

Not sure if you are underrating Cabaye or overrating that free transfer idiot.

We can sign free transfers after the deadline AFAIK.

Let him sweat it out then, make an reasonable offer and stick with it....he can look elsewhere if he doesn't like it. Sure hope we're looking for others for the middle of the park

We should sign that Guilavogui guy instead, we know what you get with flamini and over paid guy who will run everywhere including down his contract. Invest in a player who can actually develop here rather than another stop gap between zero and nowhere.

75k p/w = 3.9m per annum.

Expenditure on a 3 year contract = 11.7m

Is someone like Cabaye really worth a 20m transfer fee and 8-12m in wages over the course of his contract? Not sure he's 3 times better than Flamini.

Sure, there's no harm in haggling and trying to get his wages down, but it's not as expensive as it seems.

(Yes I've changed my tune, didn't really think about the figures when I laughed at his wage demands).

Doesn't matter what he's worth, this idea of "worth" is why we've not paid for a single player this transfer window.
Cazorla style bargains are an exception, just pay the flippin money if we need him, which if the Arteta rumour is true we really do.

Precisely y va. People always going on about "is he worth this, is he worth that". Is it your money?

We have the funds and we can afford it. Might seem exorbitant on occasion, but thats the market for ya, and sometimes one needs to bite the bullet. Else we might as well stick to signing Sanogos and Girouds.

Flamini would be a very shrewd signing.

If he never played for us before and we were signing a peak age all combating midfielder from Milan I am sure a lot more of you would be happier.

I have no issues with signing Flamini, it´s just that he´s probably Wenger´s answer to our midfield problems, when we needed to sign an upgrade on Arteta\Ramsey to begin with. Plus he´s on a free, so it smells of further penny pinching

He just had his best season at ac Milan.

If you wanna look for weaknesses you can all day long.

But we could do a lot worse than Flamini.

In our current state be grateful we will sign him.

Of course he did. His contract was expiring.

He's pulled this trick enough times in the past.

Problem is it wasn't exactly a great season. It says more about what he's been up to in the last four years than it does about his current level.

Grateful? 80m in the bank and a player that is worse than the one we let go in 2008?
