Anyway, the theory that we used this to show Madrid we have other options is not very true. We only shown them we have the 30m they want.

I imagine he'd turn it down. He's more into the meatier stuff.

If this story is true (and I doubt it is) does anyone really think the club would make a £30m offer for a player just to spook Real into selling us Higuain quicker? I just can't see Wenger, Gaizidis and Law doing something like that.

I would take him.

Me too. Think he's a brilliant player

Does that makes us cold ass honkies Tim?

Asa, the eternal sceptic.

Let's play what if: What if for whatever reason they'd accepted the offer? I think we should all be encouraged. We just made a bid for Suarez. 30 mill. That's a rabbit out of the arsehole if I ever saw one.

Anyway, I love how we're flexing our new muscles. It's like a boy with a little willy who just woke up one morning and discovered: my willy's gotten pretty fucking huge. And now he is just walking around the streets wearing a black trench coat, black top hat, black sunglasses, black boots, but absolutely naught else. And Stopping right in front of random people, pulling open both edges of his coat and flashing for 3 seconds. Then coolly closing up his coat and walking off to another corner in search of the next unsuspecting willy ambush victim.

Exactly qs!, that line of reasoning really doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Everyone in football knows we have way more than 30m.

This bid alone probably won't make much difference but if we go back with another and reach an agreement with Liverpool (or any other team for a striker), Madrid may blink.

Madrid may blink and bid for Suarez?

Very succinctly put.

Perhaps. If they bought Suarez it'd make it more difficult to pretend they want to hold on to Higuain.

I don't think Madrid have ever pretended that they want to keep Higuain.

It is a real move of last resort. I'd imagine we might plant such a rumour, but not actually bid. Liverpool and other clubs would not view it favourably if it came to light that we made a bid just to light a fire under Madrid's asses. We'd lose a lot of credibility in the transfer market.

That means if we did make the bid, then we are serious about it. Which leaves one question: are we trying to bid for him as contingency in case Higuain fails, or are we trying to pair him with Higuain in attack? Drool.

Is this a cry for help, Flo?

Or we feel that Suarez could represent better value following Real's new valuation of Higuain.

That's what I'm going about doing today, Tim

Except, instead of the trenchers, I'm in my Wenger puffer.

No matter his stunts Suarez as a footballer has been a success at Liverpool. Liverpool paid 24m for him. If someone thinks that he is going for anything less than a size-able profit on that 24m then that person is deluded. If someone thinks here that we are going to pay a realistic value say 35m plus then that's just not going to happen.

We didn't really have to sell RVP did we?

Personally I think we've bid for Suarez cos we want Suarez. No other reason.
