I wanna watch the Fighter, True Grit and Conviction.

True Grit looks really good, Tony. Got a new appreciation for Jeff Bridges after watching a few of his films lately. He's bloody awesome in Crazy Heart. The Fighter looks brilliant, and it's got Christian Bale in it, which is an almost instant winner for me. Love nearly all his films. Conviction looks an interesting story, too, especially as it's about something that actually happened. Hilary Swank's a great actress, too.

Hereafter with Matt Damon looks like it could be a great watch as well. So does The Way Back, which has got some good reviews. Also like the look of 127 Hours, although not overly keen on Danny Boyle. Lots of good films out right now. I went and caught The Next Three Days and Season of the Witch, the other day. Loved the Next Three Days, Russell Crowe was brilliant, and it was a great watch from start to finish. Would highly recommend. Season of the Witch is not my cup of tea really, but got roped into it, it wasn't bad really, Nic Cage was pretty good, as was Ron Perlman, but it was a little boring for me, and a little silly.

Has anyone seen Gulliver's Travels - is it worth going to see?

Any good films out on DVD lately? Fantasy / horror / sci fi-fi - wise?

Just finished watching Hotel Rwanda. Had never seen it before and only ended up renting it after reading Romeo Daillaire's book on the genocide. Kind of see Bill Clinton in a different light since

Hotel Rwanda was very tough viewing, but I just wasn't convinced by Don Cheadle.

I preferred Shooting Dogs, myself...

Irish, are you 1 of the 11 people in the world who hasn't seen Inception yet? Obviously a great film to get if you are. Shutter Island is also a good watch, that's not long out. I really enjoyed Resident Evil Afterlife, and I think that's just come out. Really enjoyed Hotel Rwanda, personally I thought Cheadle was very impressive in it.

And finally some news on the new James Bond. It won't be until November 2012, and apparently is to be directed by Sam Mendes. Pleased they've finally sorted something out.

Good to see Daniel Craig's still there.

I think he's an excellent Bond (and actor in general)

Have seen Inception ...loved it. Haven't seen the latest Resident Evil though, although trailer seemed pretty good.

Have to say the last few with Craig have been my favourite, more gritty than the usual Bond films

Yes, Daniel Craig has resurrected Bond, injected a bit of darkness, some humour and saved him from the bland.

Agreed on Daniel Craig, think he's brilliant. Casino Royale was a great film, Quantum of Solace was good, but not great, but that was down to the story rather than Craig. His take on playing Bond really works, I think.

Thought Quantum of Solace was very poor. Casino Royale was good but still miles behind Bourne 3.

The Bourne series was/is SO good. Something special about Bond though, it's got that weight of history behind it, and you're aware of it when you're watching it. It's not like other similar style films. The combination of Craig's new take on the role, and the ferocious pace and action of Casino Royale really blew me away.

christian bale looks like he lost a whole bunch of weight for fighter - truly dedicated to his craft

him and leo dicap are the best out there at the mo

cant wait for Arthur, kill bill 3 and the new bill and ted

I know I'll get slaughtered for this, but Di Caprio is a crap actor with a brilliant agent. He's made a career out of whispering and gurning.

I didn't really rate DiCaprio until I saw him in The Departed - he was brilliant in that.

He's been in some brilliant films, no doubt about that.

I'm with Dules, Di Caprio's right up there. I love nearly all of his films. Thought he was particularly brilliant in the Aviator and the Departed.

What's the feeling on Jeff Bridges? I sort of love him right now after watching Crazy heart.

Jeff Bridges - even if he never acted in anything else the fact that he was in The Big Lebowski makes him great.

I'm a Di Caprio fan too.

Am I the only one that liked Catch me if you can? Everyone I speak to seems to thing it's a boring/average film.

YESS!

Love the new bond films.

Top film.

He's a good actor. I thought he'd turn out be a routine heart throb but he's actually a great fim actor. Shutter Island, Revolutionary Road, Departed, Inception plus more. Got drama about him if you get what I mean.

Seen the trailer for Conviction and it seems a routine film.

What do people make of the Coen brothers?

not a fan of Coen movies.. only one I can remember liking up to now except No Country for Old Men.. the rest i could do without

Loved it. One of my favourites of his. The fact that all that crazy stuff actually happened made the film all the more enjoyable.

Love the Coens, but they're slightly erratic.

Absolutely love Barton Fink, Fargo, Miller's Crossing, No Country.

Though there's something slightly patronising about the way they slice up the "biomic quartiles" of US society more like zookeepers than storytellers. Each new film is a new slice of Americana. There's something rather NYC hipster about it all, it's not very affectionate.

I have an advance copy of True Grit that I'm going to watch over the weekend. Pretty psyched about it because I have a soft spot a mile wide for Jeff Bridges - like most of the world apparently.

Let us know what you think, mate. Liking the look of the trailer.

nope, your not the only one.. we saw it, and it was much better than we had anticipated it being..

Leo is a good actor for me.. The Aviator, Departed, Blood Diamond, Shutter Island, even Titanic (shut up).. he was good in all of them. he was good in Basketball Diaries (an early movie of his)..

He's pretty good in the Luhrmann Romeo and Juliet as well. I re-watched that the other day - it's a great version and it's easily Luhrmann's best ever work (not saying very much there though).

I really liked Catch Me If You Can in the cinema but if I recall correctly it drags pretty badly on repeat viewing.

I enjoyed Catch Me If You Can a lot.

You could add The Big Lebowski and The Hudsucker Proxy too. Great movies.

I liked True Grit. I don't know, it might've been because I was in a particular mood when I watched it but it's better than the original in my opinion. Jeff Bridges and Hailee Steinfeld both put in performances that should make sure to earn them nominations come the end of the year.

I thought A Serious Man was absolutely superb - some of the dialogue was brilliant.

Blood Simple, O' Brother and Raising Arizona are all brilliant too, love the Coen Brothers. Haven't seen the Hudsucker Proxy though, and hated A Serious Man.

The Man Who Wasn't There is another Coen directed film that's worth a look.

Billy Bob Thornton is totally detached in it.

Speaking of Billy Bob - Bad Santa - out of season now but still very funny.

I quite enjoyed Burn After Reading.

Thought it was funny. Not an amazing film just a good watch. Thought Malkovich was funny.

all these Coen brothers movies that you guys are mentioning are the ones I can't stand.. Burn After Reading, Raising Arizona, O Brother..., Hudsucker, Lebowski, Barton Fink, Millers Crossing...

a few were OK.. Fargo, i liked No Country.. but otherwise, not my favorite stuff.. dont particularly like their brand of humor (or satire)

That's true in my opinion. The Coen brothers definitely need an acquired taste. I think they are brilliant and can do no wrong for me. Raising Arizona is probably my favourite film by them, the robbery scene is just insanely good.

;-)

Saw the Kings Speech tonight. Was excellent.

Good to hear, off to see that tomorrow. Was worried it might be a little boring.

True. I also thought Brad Pitt was hysterical.
