He'll be good enough for every top club in the world next season but he won't "fit" at Arsenal. I find that argument ridiculous. You sign him and you make him fit, and that's the end of it.

Spot on.
I don't think we're really in a position to be dismissing the signing of players of the calibre of Gotze are we?
If Wenger does finally cave in to that kind of spending it will be on somebody fitting Gotze's profile I think
There is no one doubting Götze's ability or his potential, nor is there anyone doubting he would improve us. There are those of us however, and I am one of them, who think that if we are going to spend big money on one player it would be better spent on a top class forward. The reasoning behind that, in my case at least, is that we in Cazorla and Wilshere have players of high quality with similar traits as Götze, whereas our striking options are utterly pony.

I agree, it's that kind of reasoning that keeps Podolski out of the side at the expense of Giroud and Gervinho.
I'm firmly with the school that think that Gotze would be remarkable to have, but if we can buy a striker of equivalent quality, that is where the money should go first. But if we got him, I'd be over the moon. It'd be a real signal of intent from Gazidis.
All good, but at the end of the day, why would he want to take a step down by coming to us...?
He'd take a step down competitively, but I really doubt that Dortmund could keep up with us in a salary competition. We'd do them like Chelsea/Citeh do us.
I don't know about that, but either way, it's not enough to make him come here, is it? Even if we were to put in a 30M bid, and Dortmund were to accept it, I doubt he'd choose us.
Seems you were right dreamlord
TRANSFER-HAMMER!
Götze zu Bayern
Is Bild like the German Sun?
Transfer hammer - that's like the no messing what we want we take strategy.

We missed our chance with Goetze. Or more likely we never had one. We made a good offer by the sounds of things but he wasn't interested enough and Dortmund knew they could sell him later for more so that was it. It shows how our stock has fallen that even before he really blew up even a young(er) Goetze wasn't awed at the chance to play for Arsenal.
There was this recent interview with Dortmund players and when they heard about the links with Arsenal they laughed at us. They obviously unwilling to take a step down to come here.
Another link quoting the same source - clubs haven't commented.
He's the type of player you'd expect pep to go after

Kinda bizarre really. They're not actually a bigger club than us.
The Bundesliga's rise is overstated in my opinion. There should be more money and ultimately more quality in England in years to come. You could argue the main issue affecting the Premier League is the stagnation of club management across the board.
Ferguson - old and rigid
Wenger - old and rigid
Benitez - whatever
Mancini - decidedly whatever
Rodgers, Moyes, AVB - doesn't matter, they manage at shit clubs.
There isn't a single manager in England who I can imagine winning the Champions League at his current club. Going to have to wait for a time of renewal.
Gotze's move to Bayern seems convincing if only because Guardiola's there as the drawcard.
Clrnc, you keep saying that but it didn't happen.
Story is in kicker now. 38m euro.
It's officially done.
Does indeed appear to be. The rumour's running hot on pretty much every site.
