Beyond the fact that he didn't win us trophies single handedly, oh, and he's greasy apparently, even you dont know why you hate him so much. Also some weird idea among a very select group of mainly foreign fans that we have a genuine rivalry with Barcelona (a team we've faced about 10 times in over 100 years), to the point where they'll actually want Chelsea! to beat Barcelona in the Champions league semi-final. All very strange.

Anyway, overwhelming majority of fans would take him back, and if he ever returns to the Emirates for a game he'll get a good reception. As i said, nothing to forgive.

Eh? I'm explained ad infinitum why I hate him.

Oh and where are you getting your information from that the majority of fans would take him back?
Not if our little poll is anything to go by.

I have to admit I enjoyed reading he's not having such a great time there, so I guess I'm still a little bitter.

I'd rather we spend 30m on someone else, but I'd still take him.

That surprises me Ricky, I thought you were like me in the sense that there is no second team, no admired rivals, no objective discussion, if it ain't Arsenal- it's shit.

Me no comprende?

I don't have any time for any team but Arsenal if that's what you're asking. Couldn't give a toss about about players from other teams either. And if he sees out his days at Barca, then he's dead to me just like he is right now. But, like Tim, if the opportunity to sign a player as good as Fabregas came up and we had a massive jump on everyone else who wanted him - no chance I'd say no.

Yes it's shit how he left us, but I do believe he liked Arsenal very much and don't hold the fact that he wanted to go and play in his home town with his mates in a team winning every trophy going, against him too much. Although, admittedly, that betrayal is not totally forgotten either.

We're definitely not indicative of opinions in goonerdom generally.

And like I said, it's all petty nonsense. He made us play passing football, he's greasy, he didn't win us a trophy single handedly etc.

You just have an irrational hatred of the bloke, which is fine. I think maybe you just dont like his face.

Not if our little poll is anything to go by.

It's not.

Either way I'd have him back because he's a top, top player.

T'riffic footballer.

He's already gone home. Leave him there.

What a pointless thread, he hasn't even suggested anything along the lines of leaving barca yet alone sign for arsenal, not to mention we couldn't even afford his transfer fee. And would you really do any business with barca considering the countless times they have tracked our players.

Corny prodigal son biblical soap opera slant aside - being in a position to buy Cesc back would probably mean that things would have gone terribly wrong for Barca and we'd have won a title.
Sounds fine to me 🙂

Corny but true.

It is a bit like seeing your gf leave you for a better looking, richer man. Him loosing interest in her after a few weeks at which point you decide you want her back.

Need a bit more self respect.

The circumstances in which RVP left us gave me a whole new perspective on the Cesc saga.

Yes, I'm still bitter, and didn't like him refusing to play (assuming that's true) to go. But he also stayed one year more when he really wanted to go and at least he kept his mouth shut. I'm with Ricky and do think he would never ever have considered going anywhere other than Barca, and definitely not Man U.

His quality is undeniable, but the issue, if he were to come back, is whether he would disrupt the balance that we are now working hard to achieve. If he comes as a prima donna saviour, it could do more harm than good. If he's willing to pitch in and do his part, no doubt he would improve us instantly

Biggus, for someone who has said countless times that trophies are pretty much the be all and end all, I'm surprised you don't respect Fabregas, even grudgingly, for moving on to increase his chances of winning honours. His wish to move on, Van Persie too, would obviously indicate they share some of the same opinions on club matters as yourself.

That's true but if he does come and helps us win a trophy or 3. Even if he was a mercenary (a la RVP at Utd), we would be the main beneficiary. Before you say it, i realise there are a lot of ifs but there nothing concrete ...

It's more like a world class footballer gives a club 8 years then leaves for another club which isn't in any way a rival, doesn't settle and maybe would like to come back. (although it's a long, long way off happening, obviously).

It's kinda like you had a favourite hammer and used to bang in nails all day, but then the girl next door needed one so you gave her yours, but then she tonked her thumb with it and got upset so she left it on your doorstep, and it's still your favourite hammer so should you take it back and go back to banging in nails, or is it a problem that it's covered in girl germs? Hmm?

dont need to like the players - we just want them to improve us

Guys your analogies are rubbish, leave it to the pro's.

Sabre doesn't post often enough Otf. Although his 'water balloon' from yesterday was easily best of the season so far.

QFT although i naturally like our good players and hate our shit players (and other teams good players) without even trying

Your girlfriend analogy left out the part about not having been laid in 8 years, and being the forgiving type with your ex might rectify that 🙂
