Gervinho's movement is a joy to watch. Love the way he always spins defenders.

Adebayor and Gervinho aren't even close to being in the same category.

You're right, Adebayor was much worse when he joined us.

Not in terms of finishing.

😆

Adebayor's finishing was shocking from day one and was still shocking about three months into his second season when he became a guaranteed starter.

😆

He usually managed to score more than 2 every 9 months though.

Managed a massive 15 or 16 in one and a half seasons playing exclusively at point.

Gervinho only needs ten by christmas to equal that...

Adebayors finishing was shocking, it eventually became alright but a lot of his goals are, headers, tap ins or penalties.

Adebayor is really not a good finisher at all, his biggest improvements came in making himself available with good runs, movement in the box & making himself an easy target.

Hard to believe as it mIght be though, he was still a better finisher than Gervinho. I wouldn't even let Gervinho take a penalty until it was a choice between him & Mertesacker.

Wonder if Wenger is including Theo in his transforming all wingers into centre forwards plan.

Worked out perfectly as regards Gervinho yesterday.
Almost unbelievably so really.

Persisting with him in that position looks definitely to be worth a shot.

I'm on the fence re: Gervinho, he does cause problems for defenders but his finishing is cack. If he transforms into a striker it'll be Wenger's greatest coaching trick yet.

What about it? are headers, tap ins or penalties less worthy? they all count the same.

Said it elsewhere, but the best thing about Gervinho yesterday was his passing; more involved, quicker and smarter. He generally has a tendency to go head down and spots absolutely nothing, limiting his usefulness to beating a fullback to the byline. Could be the freedom of playing centrally opened the pitch for him and if he can produce that week in, week out then he deserves a start.

The goals are obviously welcome and he was very sharp for the second one.

It's not what he scores, it's the one on ones that he passed up (and there were many).

He didn't exactly pounce on it but thankfully he managed to get it over the line 🙂

In tight games where good chances come at a premium you wouldn't exactly jump for joy if you are banking on Gervinho to score from one of maybe two decent chances in the game.

They all count the same, but it isn't a fair reflection on his finishing (gervinho's biggest weakness atm)

He's got all of the attributes except for consistent finishing. In my opinion, that is easily remedied but some believe differently so we'll see.

Agreed. Think it's mostly linked with confidence.

shocked he actually scored two goals. first one was a good finish too.

Did well yesterday. Interesting to see how he would do against better defences and when he's a little more isolated. I think his pace and directness could be good but no idea what his movement will be like.

His movement was always good. The lack of composure infront of the goal is the real problem. Let us see if he keeps this up. Its very clear that his movement along with that of podolski caused a lot of problems for the defence though.

He has been practising and he has everyone hooked.
