Those of you who've seen more of him, would Sahin be an adequate replacement for Song? Not like for like I understand, but could Sahin and Arteta, for example, be a better centre mid partnership than Song-Arteta?

i would absolutely prefer sahin-arteta to song-arteta. think the positives clearly outweigh the negatives.

Without a doubt yes

With Arteta,Cazorla,Sahin,Wilshere in mf, we may potentially play some proper football.

think he's off. rac1 reports that negotiations are moving along and the clubs could come to an agreement soon. doesn't really bother me that much. song is replaceable. diaby could do a similar job and sahin is a better player.

What's Rac1?

I sort of feel the same with the way this has gathered pace in the last few days. But something about it doesn't sit right and I wonder if we know the full story here. We dont need to sell and he's a player Wenger has invested a lot of time and effort in to. Maybe Wenger is as pissed off with his flaws as some of us fans? Maybe he's a bad influence in the dressing room?

He is a quality player but I think I've made my feelings clear about him. I just don't think as a defensive midfield player he is good enough, gets caught out of position and a simple bit of play will usually take him out of the game. I think as CB he is better as he tends not to wonder too far out of position and then get caught.

I've seen people mention about before with Fabregas how he was better but he wasn't it, I used to moan then as well that his discipline in that position. Take away his assists last season and I think he had sub standard season.

As long as we get a suitable replacement in I'm not against him leaving.

rac1 is a catalan radio station.

i think it is surprising that song might leave. i didn't expect it, though le-grove has been saying for a long time that something is going on.

Chamberlain has looked pretty nifty playing centre mid in pre-season too.

Kel you seem very sure that sahin is what we need. What's brought about this confidence?

love the mobility and pace he gives our midfield.

Incidentally, if song goes I recon we'll sign tat south Korean fella from Celtic

Why would we let him go so easily? Only explanation that i could think of is he told Wenger he wants out and Arsene doesn't want to put up a fight.

I still don't believe it though, too bizarre to be true.

Pity not a single one of those players is available to play our first game of the season on Saturday which is something everyone including those in charge seem to have lost sight of.

I'm not against selling Song, but heading yet again into the start of the season with massive uncertainty over two key players is doing my head in.
This should have been sorted weeks ago.
Unbelievable.
The plus is we've only got two games in August this time around.

That is one of the biggest myth among Arsenal fans, about Song being discipline when Cesc was here. I swear football fans have the memory of a gold fish.

On the other hand, Wenger just today was pretty decisive on Song. Dismissed any chance of him leaving. If it is going to happen I would have thought Barcelona would have to cough up more than £15million.

15 million is too little for him. We should easily demand much more and stop bending over for Barca.

edit: but I don't want him to leave anyway

just think he's brilliant. i've seen people compare him to xabi alonso, but i think he's much more mobile and dynamic. defensively very solid, but excellent on the ball as well.

Never got the impression legrove knows what is going on and do think he is a proper knob, well comes across as one on twitter. Was posting shit left, right and centre when we were struggling yet when we turned our season around seemed to go missing. Hate people like that, getting cheap hits on their website out the bad time at Arsenal............

but anyways back to Song rumours are really picking up and I do think he might be gone. Annoyed this is happening now and not a month ago, was hoping all our transfer business would be done by now.

Is Arteta definitely out?

And we dont know there's any uncertainty in Wenger's mind. He said this just today;

'There's nothing going on with Song. There's nothing in that,'

'Song has three years' contract, he's not in the same situation as Robin Van Persie.

'In Spain the newspapers are not really serious. We've had the experience of that. We've never had any contact with anybody from Barcelona.'

Oo didn't realise Wenger said that.
So are people who're believing the story that we're about to sell Song to Barca assuming Wenger is lying through his teeth then?

Arteta - not sure if he's definitely out.

Balague says Song close to joining Barcelona. Going to take it with a pinch of salt, he's the guy that said Mata is a done deal among many other bullshit.
