Müller's mentioned he might consider reviewing his position at Bayern, so I stuck him in my wish list.
Afellay
bw, gervinho's ok as a squad player, but he's a horrible finisher. not even in the same league as ramsey, in my opinion, and it's not like i think ramsey is pires or anything.
In my opinion, no player who is a nailed-on shit finisher could score as many as Gervinho did for Lille. IIRC his shots to goal ratio was about 4 or 5 which isn't world class especially in Ligue 1, but isn't record-breakingly bad either.
And yes, Ligue 1, crap defending, played as a proper striker, lots of 1-on-1s ... still doesn't quite explain it.
That's why I think he's got a specific form/psychology issue to work through at Arsenal. But I guess time will tell.
He's generally shit. You know it. I know it. Even Captain knows it.
Some of us are just less willing to give him a chance to express his general shittiness than others.

I think he'll get more than 4 goals, but I also think he's an inherently flawed player, someone who will frustrate more than he performs, and someone I'd love to see ditched at the earliest possible opportunity.
Yea, I meant he was fine in the sense that it was his first season in the PL, and his first with us, and better players have looked much worse when first arriving in England. He wasn't at the level that I'd want our wingers to be at, but he wasn't shit either. With that in mind, there is plenty of possibility for him to be a good Arsenal winger.
Basically, I (unsurprisingly, perhaps) agree with Burnsy.
I don't really see the evidence to suggest he's going to make a step up though. I think his goalscoring was deceptive in France, as it has been with so many players who come from weaker leagues, and he never had the technical or mental ability to make the step up. I'm not saying i told you so, but i wasnt the only one who was saying this 12 months ago, and nothing he did last year even suggested it was worth reconsidering that opinion.
Lots of players look poor in this league in their first season here. Lots of those stay poor for their whole time here.
Yeah, maybe.
I think there's a sizeable cohort of people who say "Gervinho is shit" and "Walcott is a player we must keep" in the same breath and experience no cognitive dissonance doing so.
Heh... Just my opinion. His stupid haircut makes me dislike him more - sure doesn't help himself, this kid.

Couldn't agree more. I've heard people compare him to Pires in his first season and say the stats are similair. The difference was though that Bobby at least looked like a football player.
Gervinho has a shit first touch, can't pass and can't finish.
All he has going him is his ability to go by his man. That's completely fucking useless though because once he goes past his marker, he has zero end product and is completely brainless.
Any player that makes Theo's use of the ball passable good shouldn't be considered anything more than a 4th choice winger.

People should really pay more attention to what I say about players.
Should they?
They should.
They should?

Very true
If we get Ibs then Robin stays. Ibs will play through the centre IMO. I'd be far happier going into next season with Lansbury/Ramsey/Afellay as our attacking mid options over what we had last season.
Ramsey's the best of that trio, and that will tell you something about what I think of the other two.

If that was the case, we would have bought him already.
This reminds me of when we wanted to buy ribery to convince henry to stay, we didnt sign ribery and we wont be signing affelay. Though i think he would be a good signing.
Why was this thread bumped?

Ramsey is not better than Affelay in any aspect of the game.
