I do not understand what people see in Afellay, only thing he does is dribble in circle and then somebody just nick the ball of him. If he had an end product I could understand he's nothing more than Hleb MK2

I remember watching him play central midfield against Tottenham in the Uefa cup a few years back and he dominated them, creating chance after chance with his passing. He can switch between a traditional winger and a playmaker quite easily.

The only issue i have with him is that I noticed his pace wasn't the same during the euros. Before his injury he exploded past defenders but he struggled to do that for Holland this summer. Not sure how much the knee injury has affected him.

I have never seen him in CM, but when he is on the wings I agree with Shinda- except for that Hleb Mk2 part. He's not even that.

He is nowhere alike to Hleb's playing style. He is much more direct and likes to shoot from range. For that fee, he is definitely worth the gamble. If we are bringing him and a big signing playmaker I would be delighted, if he is the only one we bring in then no.

I like Afellay. Not sure what his knees look like but he's a gifted footballer.

His goal scoring record is pretty poor given his age and experience. Not sure he's what we need right now.

Never thought of him as a goalscorer. Isn't he more of a dribbler/playmaker?

I don't understand the excitement around this guy. He has a fairly unimpressive goal/assist rate and his light frame brings up questions about how he'll adapt to the premiership. He's not exactly young, so he really should be impressing more by now.

That's why I think he's got a specific form/psychology issue to work through at Arsenal. But I guess time will tell.

Myth, it's a very defensive league.

Gervinho can be very frustrating but I think this will be his breakthrough season in the PL.

Afellay: Not totally sold on him; Looks neat and tidy but not really productive in forward positions and is a ball hogger when played deep.

I would like us to buy a special player for one of the forward positions, so no decent players please.

As I said, I think it has little to do with his ability, though he's clearly better than Ramsey, but it has more to do with saving face and getting our latest captain to commit.
