I would sell him if we can get good prices (if he wants to go). Replace him early rather than lose him on a free next season.

Won't sell him if Podolski is his replacement

I'd keep him whether he signs or not. But then I desperately want us to build a squad that's good enough to win the league, dont think wenger and Gazidis feel the same.

Wenger has been indicating that he wants to keep him regardless but I suppose that's all part of the pre negotiation posturing.

Considering the amount of games he's played this season and the fact that he'll spend the summer with Holland an early injury next season looks pretty likely if he doesn't get a lot of rest at some point. I wouldn't keep him if he doesn't sign. Odds are that he'll have a mellow season and then walk for free. Make sure we sell him early on and get a lot of money instead if he doesn't want to be here.

At least we don't have wait long, should be resolved this week.. Part of me hopes RvP gives then an ultimatum, sign some quality players or I'm off.. If we keep RvP ans don't bring in quality its just going to be more of the same, challenging for CL spot.. somethings got to give, we either show some ambition and try to go for the title or were going to keep going backwards... Hope Kronke understands how important resigning Robin is..

In this scenario Klaus, I´d say there is a decent chance he will sign a new contract during next season. The clubs that may appeal to RVP now will probably be very cautious to take a chance on RVP if he has another semi big injury.

Wenger yesterday:

Should we read too much into van Persie spending a long time with the fans at the end? You can make of that what you want.
"If a player doesn’t go out they say he is already gone.
If he goes out and celebrates then it means he is saying goodbye. I believe it is a rather positive sign."

Robin yesterday:

"We will have a chat next week somewhere,"
"You never know but Arsenal is a massive club, a great club. I have been playing here for eight years and I love this club. Whatever happens that will never change.

I don't think I could handle a drawn out period of wondering whether or not Robin stays.
I think it's odd that in all of this Juventus are reportedly the only club to have expressed real interest.

I suppose at least this time we don't have to listen to a whole load of rubbish from every single person ever concerned with Barca.
It's primarily between Robin and the club, that should hopefully mean it's resolved cleanly and quickly.

I'll stop caring about this if it isn't resolved before the Euros.

Just stay or go Robin

(preferably stay)

If this guy doesnt want to stay then fuck him.

One good season doesnt make up for us sticking by him for being out 6 months every season for 6 years.

Bouchra seems to be saying all the right things. Getting a good vibe from her. It's that snake Darren Dein we've got to be worried about.

The eternal infernal cycle would continue.
Buy someone decent, sell someone better, dilute the quality some more.
Nooooo.
Unless we sign someone like Aguero as a replacement I don't want to know.

It won't continue forever. Pay off the stadium n ffp then it's whey

I'd be gutted if he left, I didn't care too much about Nasri and I expected Fabregas to leave anyway but van Persie leaving is more a recognition that we're not anywhere near good enough than anything else. Plus if he felt the club were more competitive + offered him decent wages I don't think he would leave

for the past 6 years he's been one of the best paid in football on a per start basis.

I'd even be tempted to let him go to City if he demands to leave and if they offered the best deal - and we could charge them a premium. I'd look for a couple of players in a swap too. Dzeko, Richards, Johnson, Kolarov, Balotelli, Nasri could all maybe be had - any two of them, plus a litre cash...

Offer him £150k/w there or thereabouts. That's a massive raise but as much as a one time PotY with a long track record of serious injury warrants.

If he still wants to leave after negotations, we should definitely let him go for a truckload of cash. Too much of an injury risk to force him to stay.

His contribution on the pitch has been immense, but his importance goes beyond that. We need to keep him. We have to.

Why are we being so selfish here?

It's not his fault we're not good enough, and we have shown no ambition for anything other than the prize over the years.

If we persist with our penny pinching ways, then I won't hold it against him if he left.

He has to mind his own career and his own legacy. He is fast approaching 30, and is one of the premier strikers in Europe, and has basically nothing to show for it except a poTy title. Now, that's fucked up.
