  • Hello all. Is our Arsenal back yet?
You know, it's been a while since I felt connected to the club and the way it's going for a long time now. Quite obvious most of us feel the same.

Been depressing to say the least for the last few years, even winning the FA cup papered over the cracks over a fractured club.

Honestly, whatever we end up doing this year it looks like we're finally looking at realising who we are again.

  • A win away from home, anywhere, in any season, is a good result.

    We'll improve.

Good. The only thing I like about this guy is he's apparently a gooner.

Would just affirm how low our standards have slipped is if we signed him, and the price quoted is a joke.

  • Need someone to calm the defence and lead from the back.

    Play Tony Adams.

  • Starting to really be concerned that Arteta just can't be the right fit for us. I was willing to give him the benefit of doubt as it seemed we had improved the last few months of the season, but either the system he is trying to put in place lacks understanding, or the players are just not responding to him, or both. Clearly a problem.

I've seen worse players than these, but I'm not sure I've seen a worse team, lacking ideas or heart, in 40+ years.

    Truly worried.

  • I think there will be a lot of knee jerk posturing from the PL, UEFA etc until they concede. They have to. Otherwise they lose the bigger clubs for good, and the money that goes with them.
They created this monster themselves really. Years of greed from all of the football bodies, and allowing billionaire ownership by oligarchs and US franchise models monopolising football was never going to go well for real football fans.
In addition, our club, Man United and liverpool could always say that our financial wealth mainly came from our historical success through football, something spurs from a lesser extent could also. That argument holds less water now.

Yeah. Like everything in the World right now.

  • So, at least we can be bang average in the Super league.

..and blaming it on the pandemic. Just no shame in their greed.

I wonder how Everton feel. They used to be one of the original 'big six'.

  • Well, for one thing how can the best players in the World not be allowed to represent their countries? It's going to make the World Cup seem like an Olympic event.

  • And Spuds? Seriously? They've won nothing of note for decades.

  • Can't believe this is actually happening, but it is. Official now.
    Football has lost its soul.

  • I'm completely opposed to this and I hate the idea of not being involved in the competions that have made the club what it is, and the greed of football in general is depressing now.
However, we've been very active in seeking this for a long time now...I remember Wenger talking about it and even prior to that. Just didn't include Man City, Spuds or Chelsea at the time.

  • This is the worst keeper I've seen at Arsenal for 40 years, actually, ever.

My club has completely lost its way.

  • We'll do well to keep this under 5-0. same problems for a few seasons now, and we're blunt in attack also.

  • Quality manager. I can see him getting better and better.

  • I didn't know he was this good. Top keeper.

  • Great defensive performance today, best I've seen us in that regard for some time.

I really like Arteta. 2-3 good signings {as usual} and I think he can work with the players he had today into something special.

  • I'm not sure the PL will ever be the same really.

This has just exposed football for what it really is, arrogant, overpaid players working for corporate vile clubs, and its pretty much all of them.

Not felt good about football for some years now, even our beautiful club lost a lot of its soul moving from Highbury to follow. the gravy train, but i'm not sure the business model is sustainable long term for the big clubs now.

I mean, we all knew it, but when you actually think about, its absurd...the money one average pl player earns a week is a 4 nurses salaries for a year. For what, exactly?

Ok, you can make the tax argument: they are paying into the economy etc but unfortunately many or probably nearly all have offshore accounts etc.

Football, of all things, seems utterly meaningless now.

  • My God. that club are everything I thought they were but worse.

    Vile.
