You've got to remember that everyone here is a certified Arsenal nut. Emotions run high, especially in the wake of bad defeats or runs of poor form. Things get said, threads get made, and we all vent our spleens, some in defence of a player, or the manager, or the club, others getting things off their chest in the other direction. Every one of us at one point or another can all go a little over the top in making our points, but that's all part of the fun, no?

In the clear light of day, and taking the emotional aspect out of it, we can all probably agree that we're a good club, run pretty well, and with a pretty good team, but it kills us all that we're not the very best, and so we squabble about the different ways in which we fail to be exactly that and exactly what the best way is to go on and become exactly that.

That, and the majority of us have been posting on the same message boards for 5, 6, 7 + years, so there's a certain level of familiarity, humour and brevity that might take new members a while to adjust to.

redstar, there's admittedly a shorthand between veteran posters here. but believe me, the majority on this board are some of the most intelligent you'd find anywhere and could write a thesis in each of threads. but can't be arsed. 🙂

and don't take this as me picking on you. i'm an aussie too, and when it comes down to it my loyalties lie with my fellow countrymen 😉

There is nothing wrong with saying Ramsey is a 'dud' to get a discussion going. Start off the thread as 'Ramsey is not playing so well', and maybe we are still only on page 2. Dula's position set the stage for vigorous discussion.
As for Theo 'is shit', well, yes, he is.

Very true, Cali. Dula's a lot smarter than he's gets credit for, and he gets an awful lot of discussion going around this place. Most of the good threads are his. He knows how rile the right people up and get people interested. Difference is, as has been mentioned, we all know each other well enough not to take everything at face value.

It's like Dula saying he can't stand Gibbs when I know he loves him really. 😆

I get all that, and I’m sure all the nodding and winking is thoroughly enjoyable to those ‘in the know’. But it’s also a forum that has been opened up (by choice) to newer members who might have an interest in some deeper discussions.

That's real clever that. I'm really amused that my nationality has come into the discussion. I would have thought the 'intelligent' posters that Ricky talked about would be above that kind of thing. But it would seem not. Classy.

I'm fine, I just don't see the relevance of nationality in any of this. Why has it even been brought up in reference to my posts?

@ burnwinter, cheers for the 'advice' mate, but I'll be fine without it. Judging by some of the responses to my recent posts, it would seem I missed an important rule when I signed up.....don't challenge or critique the old guard eh?

Nothing wrong with "Ramsey the dud". I was actually expecting it earlier from dules.

I actually agree with many things Dula says about Ramsey, when he cares to elaborate (and I agree with ricky's comments there 🙂). Keeping possession, sloppy stuff, rushing it are among things I think Ramsey really is poor in, ATM. And the points (not necessarily dula's) about being sick of waiting, and players developing in the first team are also fair (if not for Jack's injury, I wouldn't be asking for Ramsey to start all these games either - perhaps none of them; That obviously depends on what Jack would be like in that case).

Fair discussion, better for all of us when we can take risks (either "dud" or "superstar behind the corner") rather than play safe.

You've made alot of good points that I agree with in this thread but try to remember now matter how mental or OTT some peoples opinions seem to you that people have very different views on problems with the side but we all love Arsenal and we feel very passionately about what we feel is wrong with the team. For every person in this thread who annoys you by being overly negative about Ramsey they're probably annoyed reading myself, yourself, Ricky and Klaus defending him.

Its just a difference of opinion. And alot of it is hyperbole. We're all guilty of that from time to time too. I've certainly called Theo every name under the sun but I don't think he's a bad player really.

You have to feel sorry for Ramsey. You can throw Cesc into a midfield with a young Song and Denilson and make things happen because the Spaniard is a top tier player. You can't do the same with Ramsey. The Welshman just hasn't developed the pitch-vision and range of passing that Cesc had even at a younger age. What Ramsey needed was to be allowed to play next to another veteran who could comfortably manage the offense while Ramsey played the Arteta role. I just hope that he is finding some benefit from these difficult circumstances.
