Relative to Kaka and Rooney though? And Lampard definitely does lack pace and power, as does Fabregas. The largely point being made is there isn't a particular type of physical attribute required to play as an attacking midfielder. Come to think of it, Rooney's best form has come as an out and out striker.
But anyway Wilshere doesn't lack pace any more than the likes of Lampard, Fabregas and the rest? He's not fast but he's not Mikel Arteta either. But he's quick at carrying the ball, dropping a shoulder and driving into space.
Like his goal against Shakthar or his backheel vs Partizan or various moments against Barcelona, he's capable of hurting defences through the middle. The skill is there, it's just being played in a position that utilizes them.
