Very true, extremely annoying having to continously choose between two evils and even worse seeing rivals who get weaker but still win trophies ahead of us. A lot of gooners also been saying its been very quiet on the Arsenal news front over the last couple of weeks, esp mid-week.

These are by-products of being eliminated from cup competitions in the business end of the season, I view this as our punishment. Only positive is that the players see their counterparts winning medals and this acts as extra motivation for the following season.

If I was a player/manager and I saw Spurs win a trophy and celebrate it, it would make me 100 times more motivated to win a cup the following year.

Really, who gives a shit what anyone else does?

High 5 Spurs!

Football rivalry and fan culture.

Would you care if Spurs finished above us?

Its pride. Why should these cunts win trophies and not us?

I'd call it a personality flaw Tony, but there we go.

Aye everyone has flaws.

So would you care if we finished below Spurs in 4th while they finished 3rd?

why even publish the league table right, capi? don't matter what anyone else is doin'

Focus on yourself and your own goals. Only way to succeed.

that would be true if this were a forum for current arsenal players, but that's not true, is it? we support arsenal as a hobby and have essentially zero effect on arsenal's performances. as supporters, it is important how we do relative to our rivals. if you personally don't care whether spurs finish ahead of us, good for you.

Honest question, would you take finishing below Spurs + outside of top 4 for winning both the domestic trophies aka Liverpool's precadiment now?

I think I would to be fair.

Drogba made mince meat out of him today, completely took him apart.

Except it was Vermaelen who got mugged by Drogba and Toure before him.

It was Gallas attitude today that disgusts me. Gave up totally after the 3rd goal and kept throwing tantrums aka Balotelli mode

Okay mate, you guys sit there worrying about what Tottenham are doing, Chelsea are doing etc. and so on.

Meanwhile I'll look after Arsenal for you.

Absolutely not. And Chelsea will beat them anyway.

It's not like we sit there biting our nails at the vidiprinter watching the Spurs' and Chelsea results. Still we want them to fail and Arsenal to achieve.

Every fan looks after Arsenal first. But we want to achieve better than our rivals too. It's not mutually exclusive if we want to do both.

It's definitely a weird part of being a passionate supporter.

My hate, literal hate, for United is not healthy!

I'm not sure what to think when I meet other football fans who love a particular club but are able to cheer on other English teams in Europe. If I'm honest, I think to myself "proper fan, my arse!", but they're probably just better mentally adjusted than I am. 🙂

I have major issues with United too Ricky. Definitely in a different category from other clubs for me.

Though he has a good point, there are plenty of philosophical reasons to balk at Captain's dictum anyway. The only way to succeed isn't the only thing that's relevant. 😉

You are mentally stable don't worry. Your analysis of United is a bit weird but you're not abnormal. This is fan culture.

In all honestly I don't hate fans of other clubs in and of themselves (unless I don't know them at all). I don't know any Chelsea fans but I really detest their story and arrogance. Off the top of my head my mate is a United season ticket holder and he's invited me to his wedding. I am definitely going as he's a good mate. We talk about football sometimes but not in a hate filled way. Just conversation and opinion. We did get nasty a couple of times in 2005 because we actually competed with them. The FA Cup final that year did not make for good viewing between me and him when Vieira scored.

I was laughed at for ages when I said I wanted United to lose the 2011 CL Final because their plastic fans (none of them were from Manchester in this bar in Nottingham that I watched it in) laughed at Arsenal in 2006. There were tons of them jeering and cheering, "Barca Barca Barca". It was ridiculous.

My friends thought I was bitter and found it hilarious I was thinking about a final from 5 years ago. One of them is a Toon fan who wanted the English sides to do well in the CL. Fair enough but not for me.

2009 and 2011 has happened and I enjoyed both finals. Fantastic. Have some of that.

Don't you start!

Disgraceful Chelsea fans.
