No we can't.

Interesting that he has a buyout clause (assuming that article is true, which it very well might not be) at €10 million. Gotta ask why we're haggling in that case if we really want him.

-Says that he isn't going to leave Anderlecht during this January transfer window and basically not even to us,

-Also says that if he was to leave the club it would be to join a big club(Though doesn't want to be during winter period).

-Talks about his team, states that they're doing well etc, etc. Apparently has a deal until mid 2015 according to this source.

Ummm...you sure it says that?

Yes, I can speak dutch.

even without wengers reticence it would be hard to sign players of the required standard in january. noone seems keen on a move.

Have you got a link? Can't find it on their website.

They seem certain that we're after Aly Cissokho though. Delighted if it's true.

I don't, it was on the radio apparently.

You rate Cissokho then?

Mirth: Yeah, I like him a lot. He reminds me a bit of Sagna.

Cheers squall, but you're linking to a 404 Error. 🙂

I realize

Here's the article translated.

AS the days pass and the opportunity to see Aly Cissokho leave Lyon this winter is approaching. According to our information, international tricolor could sign as early as January to Arsenal, the club seems to offer the best guarantees both financial and sporting OL player. Looking for a left side because of numerous injuries to the item in its workforce, Arsene Wenger would have set his sights on the former FC Porto defender. A meeting between the agent Cissokho, under contract until 2014 and would even be leaders Lyon expected in the coming hours to discuss the case. The case could be concluded at a price of ten million euros.

Cheers. I haven't exactly followed Lyon this season but you have to wonder why they would be willing to sell him for that price. It's less than they bought him for, he's highly rated, on the verge of an international breakthrough and still only 24. Has he been out of favor lately?

Is it Cissokho who Milan refused to sign because of his teeth and how they thought it could correlate to future injuries? Maybe those injury worries weren't so far fetched but I don't watch French Football so I have no idea.

Edit

Yes it was, he failed a medical at Milan 3 years back and Milan called off the deal because thought that he would have spinal injuries in the future.

Yeah, it was him. Some knob made them cancel the transfer because the way his teeth were aligned was supposed to "signify a hidden spinal injury" (or something along those lines), and then Lyon picked him up instead. All rubbish.

Milan's medical team are some of the best in football, I wouldn't just knock off their analysis as rubbish but it does seem very far-fetched.

It's not a medical opinion, it's just some alternative medicine woo. Same rubbish that causes players to remove their wisdom teeth.

If I recall correctly it was when Berlusconi was reducing their transfer budget heavily, and it was basically an excuse to avoid spending the money for a deal that was nearly complete. An easy way out, so to speak.

Not much in the way of reasons why, but Cissokho was included in F365's transfer targets to avoid list:

Cissokho will go down as one of the finest pieces of business in Porto's history. The Portuguese club paid just €300,000 for the left-back's services in 2009 and he settled into the first team like a kamikaze lamb to the slaughter. Only six months later AC Milan came a knockin' with a big fat cheque for €15million, but an odd problem with Cissokho's teeth saw the deal collapse. This didn't deter Lyon, who matched the offer and snapped up the defender on a five-year deal. Cissokho has failed to kick-on in France, however, looking more like a €300,000 player than €15million. He was tipped to be the national team's left-back for the next decade, but as yet has made just a single appearance. Perhaps Cissokho has stagnated because he doesn't have to do much when the brilliant Michel Bastos is in front of him, but Newcastle and Arsenal should be strongly advised to keep their money in their pockets.
