city are like chelsea of yesteryear, they punish errors ruthlessly. djourou and merte worry me here, there is still an air of hesitation in their game. apart from that, i think we can match them. our midfield is good negating the influence of players like silva. they haven't played a team that passes the ball as well as us this season, it's a new kind of test for them.

we hog the ball better than anyone they've played this season. but yes, we have alot of room for improvement. napoli showed what an organised team with technical quality can do against them.

We won´t beat City by out passing them. If we are to get a result it will happen through pace and directness combined with stellar team defending.

it won't win us the game, but it forces guys who don't like having to chase alot like yaya and silva to do more closing down than they're used to. they're city's most important players, if we negate them the whole attack is isolated.

I'm not sure all their attacking players will appreciate having to chase the ball for 90 minutes. I expect they'll pack their midfield with Milner, De Jong and £50m of ball winners instead.

Mertesacker and Djourou will be tested and probably come out second best. As long as Szczesny, Koscielny and Vermaelen stay solid we'll get by though.

Actually feel quite good about this game. I dont think City are quite as good as a lot of people make out and I think we are the kind of team, with the kind of players that will hurt them.

And agree with rex. I think City will have most of the ball and territory and we'll be playing mostly on the break, but I think we're set up very well for that this season.

They'll be space to get behind them thats for sure. Walcott will be key for this game. He will be the outlet ball when Man City peg us back.

The three players to fear are probably Silva, Yaya and Aguero. Nasri wont do shit.

i feel more confident going in with the current crop than with any other side from the last 5 years. less naivete.

Ramsey and the wide players need to fire. If they can have a good game we are a threat, else its gonna be about containing their attacks. If only we had santos/gibbs and Sagna for this one, i would have been much more confident.

Just frustrating this lot at home would piss them off no end. A squad of big names like theirs needs notable successes to remain content. I would love to see them getting wound up by a resilient performance from us.

We can afford to lose this - we have to be able to - but I'm really hoping we keep the margin down if we do.

Just have a feeling this could be Ramsey's game. Another performence like he put in against Chelsea and I think he could be vital in deciding the fate of the game.

More than anything, Gervinho, Theo or RVP for that matter cannot waste any chances that come our way.

If Chelsea beat them tonight and we somehow manage to overcome them on Sunday, we will be only 6 points behind them going into the festive period.

Dare i say, a good festive period and a good January window (even though i don't trust Wenger to do it) and we could be in with a chance to write the greatest story ever.

It's crazy to think so and may be by Sunday i would have fallen down to Earth but it is good to dream nevertheless.

On the face of things we aren't in too bad shape when you look at our competitors. Lucas and Vidic injuries are massive for their respective clubs, Ferdinand is playing like a donkey, Chelsea have big problems at the moment and I don't see how they can afford to have Kalou and Drogba going to the ACN while shipping out Anelka. Tottenham are Tottenham.

This could probably be the most telling January window the premiership has ever seen.

Do January transfers make an difference in the immediate term though? Gary Neville was on record to say that he couldn't remember a January signing coming in and changing things around at Old Trafford. The last winter transfer window was a disaster for all the big clubs involved and, apart from Arshavin - who could be seen as an outlier - I can't think of too many good buys in January for Arsenal either.
