I'd love us to sign higuin. Infact if offered a straight swap for rvp I'd be very tempted

Not that impressed with his allround game(that's the edge Benzema has got over him) but the boy can finish though - probably the best finisher at Real.

I don't know about a straight swap for RVP because I have seen him struggle so many times in big games(especially in the CL). Benzema on the otherhand..........

This season alone Real Madrid has played Barcelona 5 times. 1 Real win, yesterday, 3 Barcelona wins and a draw.

Real Madrid is currently 36!!! points ahead of Valencia in 3rd place in La Liga. They are winning the league because they have managed to fuck up less than Barcelona against teams that they are expected to beat 10 times out of 10. That really isnΒ΄t such a great achievement with the team Maureen has at his disposal.

As Capi points out - it is their CL run, and the defensive solidity and work ethic, that Maureen has managed to instill they deserve credit for.

La Liga is a bigger joke than the SPL.

mainly because the top two have been really, really consistent. the likes of valencia, bilbao, and atletico would give anyone a game, as they've shown this season

They also happen to have the two best teams in the world.

Oh gawd not you too.......

Rex is basing his assessment on results, Biggs. Don't you?

Biggsy is all about emotion. πŸ™‚

Saw the goals replayed again yesterday. Didn't really notice properly first time, but Iniesta's pass to Telio for the Sanchez goal was absolutely brilliant.

This Madrid squad is probably the best overall squad I've seen assembled in club football. You'd have to be some kind of idiot to not either win, or get very close to winning the league with that lot.

Agreed. The money they are spending every season is insane. And yet they are on course to only win 1 league title after 3 years.

that Iniesta pass was superb.
just glad that the bastards had 75% possession and fewer shots on goal. Football snobs will call Chelsea and Real tactics negative and anti-football but they are the most effective tactics against Barca. Keeping Messi to zero shots certainly helps

Not sure they are most effective. Barca have won six of their last eight meetings in the league. Real have won one and one ended a draw. We have as good a record against Barca as they do in recent years.

At the end of the day it's mostly down to Barca whether you have a small chance to win or not. You need to catch them when they're getting fatigued and the form is weak, and even then they're major favourites to whip your ass.

Chelsea must have a pretty good record against Barcelona, or is my memory as shit as I sometimes think it is?

Then why didn't he say Barcelona and Santos, the last world club championship finalists.

Well at least I base it on something.

Don't feel bad Rex, because Barcelona plays a few poncey passes a lot of people assume they must be really great.

People assume they're great because they have spent 3-4 years battering every team on the planet. πŸ˜†

I don't get what's so great with them either. Anyone can win stuff by playing successful football. Obviously.

Mourinho on the other hand! That dude is mean. He won Champions League once just by having the most expensive team with the highest wage bill in the world. And he played the world's best striker as a left-back half of the time just to give the others a fair chance. Still won of course. Now he's on the brink of repeating the feat with an even more expensive team where Pepe is the most advanced midfielder. Genius.

He also won the CL another time with a cheaply assembled Portuguese team. πŸ˜‰

His only truly brilliant achievement, for me. He will go down as a top manager, which he is. But his results with Chelsea, Inter and Real prove nothing IMO.

At Chelsea he was effectively playing Football Manager with a cheat for unlimited funds.

What were you saying about spin and bollox?

Those are fair points Ron.
He does have to win another title/Cl n more challenging circumstances.

Go on do it Jose.

Is it just me or is everyone here either a Barca fanboi or a Mourinho fanboi?

It's just you but both of them are the best at what they do.
