But it takes a certain amount of ability to win it ahead of Barcelona, especially when you win a league game against them at the Camp Nou. They sussed them out somewhat in the 2nd leg of the Copa Del Rey.

And you can only have 11 players on a pitch. Barcelona have £500m worth of talent, perhaps more. Sure, most of them weren't bought, but if they were sold i am sure it would be comparable with Madrid. Even if they didn't sell for that much, in terms of pure talent I don't see how Madrid are better than Barca.

You have to be greater than the sum of your parts.

Madrid are not greater than the sum of their parts 😆

They rely exclusively on individual brilliance.

Do you mean the club world cup?

Aaaaaand slowly walks out of thread......

Madrid picked up 96 points the season before Mourinho took over Tone. 75m and two years later they are set to finish with an extra 3-4 points. Be serious, does that really deserve credit?

He has done well in the CL this season though, and that improvement is something to talk about.

Barcelona have as much talent as Madrid and even more. It's that simple.

They picked up 96 points and still finished second.

People are demanding credit for Wenger for finishing 4th yet discredit Mourinho. We always expect to and finish 4th yet Wenger derserves praise.

Nope, it doesn't deserve credit at all. They win the games that you expect them to win; nothing more, nothing less. Barcelona have underperformed this season.

As to wenger, it has nothing to do with it but that is achieving the minimum and always has been.

Wenger never does above the minimum. Finishing 3rd is a bit better but we always finish masses of points behind 2nd and 1st.

Madrid have improved overall, in both La Liga and Europe. Well managed Mourinho.

Yes, £75m of players will do that...

And now the circle is complete.

I don't know, I think you're drawing a bit of a long bow Captain. If Mourinho (say) comes back with both La Liga and the CL will he then deserve credit?

I thought what was done to Pellegrini was over the top, but Mourinho unquestionably has the capacity not to fuck up too much when handed a title-winning squad.

Mourinho is what he is, and that's why he's so desired by wealthy clubs, because he has a solid track record converting expenditure into victory.

Mourinho is an excellent manager, I just don't think winning the league with this team is that big of a deal.

This season alone Real Madrid has played Barcelona 5 times. 1 Real win, yesterday, 3 Barcelona wins and a draw.

Real Madrid is currently 36!!! points ahead of Valencia in 3rd place in La Liga. They are winning the league because they have managed to fuck up less than Barcelona against teams that they are expected to beat 10 times out of 10. That really isn´t such a great achievement with the team Maureen has at his disposal.

As Capi points out - it is their CL run, and the defensive solidity and work ethic, that Maureen has managed to instill they deserve credit for.

This Madrid squad is probably the best overall squad I've seen assembled in club football. You'd have to be some kind of idiot to not either win, or get very close to winning the league with that lot.

Unfortunately they have to compete with Barcelona´s squad which is also quite decent. 🙂

I'd love us to sign higuin. Infact if offered a straight swap for rvp I'd be very tempted

When all is said and done, Madrid have a stronger squad but Barca have a significantly stronger first 13-14.

La Liga is a bigger joke than the SPL.

They also happen to have the two best teams in the world.

why are people impressed with madrid's CL run? their group was not difficult (ajax, lyon and zagreb) and then they beat CSKA moscow and APOEL nicosia in the knockout rounds. if it were arsenal in their place, i'd fully expect to be in the semifinals.

as for the classico, i found it barely watchable with all the theatrics and diving and greasy hair. two disgusting teams full of disgusting players.
