Some bizarre perspectives in this thread. What Arsenal lack more than anything else is an outlet in the attacking phases that can take the pressure off a historically injury-prone Robin Van Persie. No other club in the top 5 has such a bias towards one individual for their goal scoring. Newcastle are the only really comparable side in the top 6, and they went out and signed Cisse to do something about it.
Don't buy the argument that Podolski 'couldn't play our systems' either. There's little magical or unique about our game these days, Podolski's a player who has smart movement and positioning, and he has a robust all-round technique. What's not to like? He'll get into the box, and he can play for the team as well. But importantly, he can play multiple positions. He's a perfect fit at Arsenal, and that's why I think we'll get him - nobody has to leave, and there'll be plenty of games to go around, even for eejits like Gervinho.
