Here's what Wenger had to say yesterday about the effects of playing in the ACN.
“It is the equivalent of a player here going to the European Championship. They are under immense pressure,”
“It is a different climate [over there]. Usually we have snow in February here, so they come from a big temperature difference. Most of the time, they are dead [afterwards].”
So Gervinho and Chamakh will be "dead" after the ACN.
Some would say that Chamakh is "dead" already.
If Wenger knows this now and still does not make absolutely certain that we buy another attacking player......
He's got to sign Podolski or someone of his stature, experience and with a comparable goal scoring record, this January.
Honestly I think Podolski's about the only one that realistically could be available and even though I agree we'd be overpaying for him and that he's possibly not much better than our current options I really don't see that we have much choice if both Chamakh and Gervinho are going to be wrecked after the ACN.
