Goal think we're interested. Fee in the region of Β£10 million.
Gotta say I like Dempsey a lot. Not sure how I feel about wasting more money on squad depth though. We should put everything we have into signing a world-class midfielder instead.

Fuck off
Our midfield signing has to be a blockbuster. If it's Dempsey I'll be disgusted.
Always been a big fan of Dempsey but definitely not what we need right now!
I will cry, no.
For what it's worth Dempsey is a significantly better player than Arshavin, Rosicky and Diaby. Doubt there's any truth in it though. The bid for GΓΆtze indicates that we're trying to pull off a top-class signing in midfield which is what we bloody need at this point.
dempsey is great at arriving late into the penalty zone having won a foot race against the defensive line back, then top volleying it into the score bag following a great spin and serve from the wide receiver
Dempsey is fantastic, wouldn't mind him at all. But as you guys rightly point out, not top of list of priorities.
I like him, but only as a squad option.
We need a blockbuster signing first

Ahem. RT @erikmal: Well, then. RT @mike_slane: Arsenal close to signing Clint Dempsey. I'll post the link soon.
apparently this link is still from Goal, but there is another new link to come shortly, ill post when its up.
This guy is a good player. I also think he is the kind of player who would improve massively with better players around him. Still think we need a big name though.
A source close to the player told Goal.com that Arsenal will acquire Dempsey within the next 48 hours as long Fulham does not set the price too high.
Brilliant time limit considering that the window is closing tomorrow
Decent player, but we need a signing to make us wet our pants in joy and incredulity.
Sky Sports sources understand Fulham have agreed a Β£10.6million deal to sign FC Twente winger Bryan Ruiz.
Coincidence?
perfect squad player or big signing for a mid table club. hopefully he is neither to us...
After Benayoun this is my second greatest fear.
Can't lie, I think Dempsey is brilliant.
If we're only going to sign one more, and Dempsey's our last remaining signing of the transfer window, you'd be happy Captain?
Dempsey is an excellent player. Does a bit of everything. But we'd still need some creativity.

Yeah. It is what it is, no point getting upset about it.
On another note, the only signing that has made me genuinely happy this window was Chamberlain.
Would Dempsey be better than Rosicky as a squad player? If so, why not.
But we still need to sign a top attacking talent on top of that.
Dempsey is twice the player Rosicky is.
I have seen Dempsey many times, I know a Fulham fan at work and he'd say the same. Good player. Arsenal quality? Maybe as a squad player but that's it.
Anyone saying he's 'brilliant' or 'fantastic' is using Wenger's definition of those words.

I agree, Dempseys not good enough.
I was about to add that zero times two is still zero, but I was too lazy to edit the post.

I think he'd be a good squad option. As a bonafide starter, he's not top 6 quality
A bit concerned we're going on a spurs-esque spending spree here ie. quantity over quality

Exactly.
Dempsey would be a sideways signing.
i'd be happy with the first Yank in the squad (Karbaissiyoon aside)
This is all
Quite difficult to do kick ups in those trainers...

that is exactly what a santos, mertesacker, gervinho, park, dempsey transfer window would be. i'm honestly baffled that you all don't see it that way. those are all basically uefa cup level players, and we just lost the most potent CM in the world.
this is a horrible transfer window, unless you've already resigned yourself to our status as the 4th or 5th best team in england.
I think everyone secretly has a hope that tomorrow will bring that one special player, Kami.
Two or bust, preferably three.

We just lost 8-2 and we've 1 point on the board after 3 games. I just want to see the squad put into a guaranteed top 4 position again. Yeah I'm definitely hoping we get a wow signing tomorrow but even if that happens and it completely blows us all away we're still not getting close to challenging this season. I want the squad sorted in every position so that we have the foundations set to build a new title winning side on.
another transitional season, yay! i guess it would've been too much to ask that the club had a plan in place for the inevitable fabregas departure, so we could start a new era without wasting yet another season.

One actual world class/future world class signing would make this an acceptable window to me. If the magical midfielder is Dempsey or Benyoun, Wenger and the board should be banned from football.

They should.
