We've generally seen a load of them though.

You have a strong opinion on M'Vila and if it's based on a few games for France then I'm surprised. That's all.

It's not.

But I wouldn't say his France games have been a massive departure in level or style from those I've seen of Rennes either.

There's another concern with his performances at Rennes for me. Whenever he was asked not to play as a pure defensive midfielder he was distinctly average, at least in the games I watched. He doesn't strike me as a fluid, intelligent footballer and that's the problem for me. If we're going to upgrade Song it would be nice to go out and actually get a better player. I want a De Rossi or a Khedira type. Not necessarily those two but someone in that mould would improve us massively. We need a proper all-round footballer in there. M'Vila doesn't fit the bill in that sense. If Wenger is hellbent on spending huge money on him I think it's fair to say that he's seen some hidden quality in M'Vila though, because he wouldn't be asked to sit if he came here. Cabaye strikes me as a much, much better buy if we're about to spend £15-20 million on a French player this summer with that in mind. Now there's a proper midfielder.

I pretty much watched his every move whenever he was within camera range in the Spanish game (I was that bored) and I have a feeling that his style, his attitude would be quite frustrating to watch in tough, tight PL games.
He really does appear to monitor, assess, jog about - no urgency as such in his game.
He's been compared to Arteta but I'd say Arteta goes to intervene, tackle and battle much more quickly when the opposition have possession.
I did not see enough passes from him to compare him with Arteta on that level.

Again, before I get reprimanded for judging to quickly, I'm just giving a reaction to my first impression having seen him play live in a big game.

We all knew what we were getting with Ken, as anyone who watched the PL was familiar with his work.
Obviously most of us were happy with him being captured even if it was about 3 years too late.

if we don't sign this guy now he will join real or barca and we will be having daydreams of when we were once linked with him. The quality is there for anyone to see. My only worry is his attitude and if we do sign him is he going to be asking for a transfer ala nasri in 3 years time.

I think we are in desperate need of a more disciplined, intelligent central midfielder this summer. I still quite like M'vila, but I simply havn't seen enough to know whether he fits the bill or not. He looked very good in 2 French games I saw a while back, then a bit of a bust out for the entire French squad at this tournament. I dont watch Rennes (who does?). At this stage I'm on the fence.

people were indeed comparing Arty to Denilson. In that he did what Denilson was supposed to do twenty times better.

I similarly know very little on M'Villa but I reckon a lot of folks watch him thinking he's another Vieira/Flamini type all action midfielder and are left dissapointed by what is actually quite a dull player. I'd probably compare him to van Bommel is terms of the type of player he is which isn't the worst thing to bring into a midfield that's often all over the place.
