Well we need someone to fill that role, and Ox and Ryo aren't ready yet. And even if they are, we should still sign someone.

Hazard is a good call, as are Kagawa, Jovetic and Gotze and probably a few others I'm forgetting about.

Bin M'Vila, who we absolutely don't need, and sign another creative midfielder or wide-forward-cum-striker type (on top of Podolski). Add another fullback.

Yep, we need another attacking player of some repute in any of the front four positions.

But it's not going to be Hazard or Neymar, because our big name attackers are going to be Oxdale-Chamberlain, van Persie and Jack Wilshere. Only one of them has proved himself though, so you better start hoping Wenger's judgement is bang on about the other two.

I like the idea of getting him. Midfield needs some duscipline. It'll allow song to be used as a fourth centreback n jack will add creativity when he's back.

Still need a quality addition to the front three

Song is a better player. M'Vila wouldn't even start for us. And I'm far from keen on any an to rely on Jack for creativity. He didn't show much last year, and has had a year out.

M'Vila is class. If we got him he'd make himself one of the first names on the team sheet pretty quickly.

Sounds like he's resilient too - no injuries even though he's not had a rest since August 2009.
He does lack experience though, still needs development, a season alongside Arteta would help?

really curious about this guy, because opinions seem to diverge so much. on one hand, he's linked to teams like arsenal, madrid and inter as a well-built, quick-playing leader in midfield. on the other, he's not even as good as song or arteta.

Doesn't say much, I'd take a lot of players over Benayoun today. He's not ready though, lets be honest. Still has a lot to learn and improve on.

yep, miyaichi's promising, but not ready to produce at pires/bergkamp/henry levels. that's the only thing we should be focusing on now. we've already got players at the level below that, and it's not enough to win titles.

Whether or not you particularly rate him (and I don't really), can you see any sense at all in spending £15m+ on making our already turgid midfield distinctly less creative? Most arguments to sign him seem to rest on making a kid with one season under his belt, 12 months out of the game, and no signs of being particularly creative yet, our midfield playmaker.

It's daft. Hope he goes to Inter. We have other, much more pressing needs.

Actually, I think the argument is that our midfield, as well as lacking creativity, is also often non-existant defensively.

We get pinned back so easily when we lose possession because we aren't good enough going forward.

Klausie, we aren't good enough in either direction. Defensive teams stop us from penetrating. Offensive teams can run us over. We lack identity or core competencies.

Genuinely think that most of our defensive issues in recent years have stemmed from players losing the ball high up the field and then not pressing well enough to win it back again. Arshavin crippled our left flank for at least two seasons in that sense, but he wasn't alone.
