I am a driving instructor (car) and I have been doing it for about 10 years now.
Out of school I fell/stumbled into the IT industry and stayed there for 20 years (yes I am old), I pretty much hated working in IT, however I seemed to have a talent for it so stuck with it.
I travelled the world as a consultant and worked for some of the biggest bluechip companies around (HP, IBM, Sun Microsystems, Xerox, Lloyds Bank etc) and also had my own consultancy for a number of years.
I got to a stage where I just had enough, my mortgage was paid off, no massive out goings, so took a career change. I wanted something completely different where I could decide when and where I wanted to work and as I had helped teach my wife and my best friend to drive years ago, I decided that was the path I wanted to take.
I love my job now, even though I am mega-busy all the time (a good thing when you are self-employed) and still work long hours.
My wife actually retired when she was 38, so she had the best idea, LOL
