I truly hope that at some point brings in some midfielders who can ensure that Wilshere develops optimally. Someone to guide him in the finer points of the art of playmaking, and someone to provide him defensive cover when he's setting up our offense. We cannot afford to mismanage a talent like Wilshere. Wenger definitely will.

My main problem with Fabregas's departure its that another big game player we have lost. Losing Gallas last summer was a massive blow as his record in big games is second to none and now we lose Cesc. In actual fact, with the remaining players in our squad, how many big game players do we have? Sagna perhaps but RvP has been very inconsitent in these type of matches. We need to sign Pipo Inzaghi 🙂

Cesc isn't a big game player.

We've got Theo and that is about it although Wilshere never hides.

Fabregas has really stepped up in some massive games before, but he's also been guilty of underperforming in some, especially last season.

And you went 16 posts without mentioning Gallas, Alfonso. Well done. 😉

Fabregas hasn't performed exceptionally in a big game since Milan 08.

Looking back, that was probably Fabregas' best season. He's still scored shit load of goals since but never dominated the game like he used to when he was younger, probably because he became a second striker at times.

I thought as poor as they were on the day, Fabregas was exceptional against Chelsea at the Emirates last season. I am sure there were a few more. His level definitely dropped though but I think his head has been in Barcelona for much longer than just last season.

And Cesc against Milan was perhaps his best performance for us, or certainly up there.

I would say at old trafford when Ade scored the winner right at the end was the best I ever saw from Cesc.

Also when he came on against Aston Villa and turned the game around in 28 minutes. May not have been a 'big game' but it was the stuff football dreams are made of.

Aston Villa game sticks in my memory as does that Spurs goal for 2-0 which perhaps wasn't his highest point in terms of footballing prowess, but took a healthy dollop of enterprise and composure.

The compilation of his best passes for Arsenal would run for ten minutes and every one of them would be a scientific miracle. Cesc must have already made more 50 metre unsighted defence splitting passes than just about any player in history.

cesc is a world class footballer. was the best player in the premiership and even though he, by his standards, had a disappointing year, he was still one of our best players. huge loss for us.
