0108: BBC now reporting that the canisters in Clapham contain hydrogen, not helium. Imagine the Hindenburg disaster and then think of that happening to a residential block. Grim.

Like I said, maybe the top brass. I suppose they're the ones that make the decisions and the ones that ultimately matter. What the average copper on the street thinks doesn't matter very much.

Keep in mind I am talking about firing rubber bullets into crowds of people.

Fact is that they are stretched and somebody smarter than your kid from the estate is orchestrating these fires to allow for the looting; it's a recipe for disaster.

The whole thing's just one big bloody mess.

I think Asa had it bang on earlier, this is a result of a generation of people, around our age and younger, that have no respect for themselves, for others, and for the world around them.

A lot of them don't care if they end up in prison or dead either.
It's what they expect out of life.

Someone I know lives opposite the Roundhouse (although not there at the moment). Claims the shop beneath his flat has been looted but appears to know nothing about the Roundhouse.

Number of sirens passing mine has quadrupled in the last 30mins; went to take a look but the roads are empty and I couldn't say where they are being deployed to. Thinking Canning Town/East Ham although reports from there seem to have stopped ages ago.

It's remarkable how quickly a peaceful town can turn to bedlam. The only people benefitting tonight are gangsters that will be selling looted goods in coming weeks. Everyone else loses

Feel sick watching that. Genuinely. The moment about halfway through when they charge is very, very scary. So many of them, so few Police.

David Cameron has badly, badly misjudged this. That it took him 3 days to come back will haunt him, mark my words.

I dont blame the police in the street, they're stretched too thin, and clearly not able to be proactive, but clearly the direction from the top, and the politicians is seriously behind the curve.
