What the hell was Wenger thinking?
He would easily have caused more trouble and anxiety in the closing minutes than Per did just standing around being 6'7 up front.

No, the problem is that we bought Ox and made a profit, rather than bought Ox and Young (don't know whether he would've come to us though).

imo young would look desperately average in our team, but he'd be a step from gervinho by dint of his pl experience.

Ours is a team where individual talent either shines through, or your averageness is clear for all to see. We can't afford passengers and average players with our style - it's just that technical. A real team would find a way to play to it's strengths whilst simultaneously identifying and suppressing it's weaknesses. We don't. oxpot looks really talented

Oxlade was a great buy. No denying that. The issue is now why didn't beane put him on the bench

We cant complain about Wenger buying The Ox really.Super Super talent.

What we can complain about though is the fact that Arsene dint buy another established world class player to relace Samir.But that is a different thing altogether.

you cant relate not signing Ashley young and signing The Ox.

Of course you can relate the two! It actually happened! And for those paying attention, I wrote "an" in front of both Chamberpuss and Young. Meaning - we should have bought a player that is top class NOW ahead of a player who may or may not turn out to be top class somewhere down the road. The priorities are all wrong here IMO.

Despite his age I think Chamberlain could be as effective this season as any mature experienced player that we could have signed in the £20 million bracket.
To me he already looks that good. Raw, but with the ability to do the unexpected and brilliant in any game.

The type of quality that would have an immediate transforming effect on the team would cost a lot more than £20 million.
