You are smudging points Tony. I don't give a shit about their money in the confines of this discussion and I don't much care to discuss their numerous issues. I'm talking about teams dropping out of the top four on thin margins.
The large and extensive sample taken says that teams are more prone to drop points after they play midweek. If we assume that the difference between 4th-6th is small (as it has regularly been), then there is an impact. Klaus already pointed this out to you in #1625. It may also be worth noting that the european competition format has changed significantly, as well as the number of teams qualifying when you pass your casual judgements.
To you, "it doesn't make a difference" but that isn't what the league has been telling us for years.
