I'd take him, seems like the playmaker/winger type player we need.

Graham Hunter: "I understand that Arsenal far better placed than Spurs to sign Santi Cazorla."

"Arsenal are ahead of every club in Europe in the race to sign Cazorla. If Arsenal keep pushing, they'll sign him."

We're in a better position to sign him than Tottenham! No shit? 😆

I never did understand what this 'race' is to sign a player. Is this race about where the player wants to go? Does another club get ahead in said race when the player changes his mind?

Getting a headache just thinking about this. May have to lie down.

it's just newspapers making a "story" out of it because that's what they do. ooh a race, people like races!

Cazorla or ganso, either would be the signing we need to bring the special quality back into the midfield.

It could be an actual race between the managers.

Like a 400m run with the player waiting at the end for whoever gets there first.

I'd have Wenger as a clear favorite over Ferguson then in 'the race' for RVP.
Wenger is younger, fitter and generally doesn't look like an alcoholic. 🙂

I can just see Gazidis and Hill wood on the sidelines cheering him on, passing bottles of water to him and saying Come on Arsene only 200m left!

Revealing from Wenger at his press conference:

On Diaby, the Arsenal manager said: ‘This tour is another decider for him. How does his body resist?’ But Wenger ruled out a move for Yann M’Vila before learning more about the fitness of Diaby and Wilshere.‘No, we wait for Diaby and Wilshere. We are not short if they are coming back. If we have setbacks, it could be different.’
On Cazorla, he was far more sly. ‘I don’t know this guy,’ he grinned.

Purchase of Cazorla reliant on how Diaby holds during this tour?
M'vila not an option?
That's what I hope he meant.

I'd just ignore those sorts of comments. He's nearly always going to try to sound like he doesn't really need the players in whom he has an interest, and can walk away from a deal.

Sounds to me like our interest in both M'Vila and Cazorla is 100% real, there is no way to deduce what that might mean for us.

Nah, I read it as M'vila not an option unless Diaby/Jack have setbacks, which would make more sense has M'vila plays in their positions.

Carzola was another conversation.

I read it as, "don't ask because I'm not telling" which is pretty much all he ever says.

Well I read it as meaning Cazorla will be ours 🙂
He always gets kind of playful with the press when he has something up his sleeve.
Did the same as regards Podolski.

True. The smugger he gets, the better the chance there's something in it. 🙂

Sometimes people read 'We're not interested' as 'We are interested', and sometimes as 'We are not interested'. Usually it depends on what the reader wants to hear.

Personally, I think Cazorla might be the former, M'Vila probably the latter. That's based on the more thorough rationale he gave around the M'Vila question, my feeling all summer long on what's actually wrong with the team, disregard for ITKs, and how I think Wenger perceives his squad.

Coincidentally, it's also what I want to hear.

Agreed - thankfully I don't think Wenger has any interest in M'vila.

Still think we need another DM
