Haye Vs Klitschko - who's watching tonight? I can't wait for it. Fancy Haye to knock Wladimir out in the 7th or 8th, but it could easily go either way.

Looking forward to it too. Can't stand Haye, even before the build up to this he's always annoyed me. I really hope Klitschko knocks him out and embarrasses him.

It's going to be very interesting to see if Haye can back up his big mouth in the ring tonight., He has done before, but this really is the big time. Wladimir wants to kill him, but you know he's far too smart to le that affect his game plan.

Klitschko has everything in his favour too, experience, reach, weight. Plus its a real make or break match for Haye, if he loses quickly he's done. At the very least Haye has to make this match last and make it close so he can maybe get a re-match.

Can't stand Haye. Would love to see Klitschko destroy him.

Klitschko looks like one of those genetically modified lab created monster like boxers Rocky had to fight against.

We should sign him instead of Samba.

Good first round. Haye looks lively in there.

Only caught the last few rounds, but it wasn't too exciting from what I saw.

I propose that in situations like this, where, in my opinion there is really no clear winner, the matches should be extended 3 more rounds, and an extra round afterwards- until there is a knock out.

I feel cheated of an hour of my life.

Klitschko killed him, really taught him a lesson. Not sure what to make of Haye's broken toe excuses.

it's KO or waste of time for me Tim.

Ah well, onto the tennis now

While you guys were mucking about with Klitschko, I watched one of the best ever UFC events. Each one of the main event fights was outstanding, especially the title fight which went the distance.

You might aswell scrap any form of competitive martial arts then. Only a very select few have the sort of power to knock somebody out cold in a controlled environment, even among the pro's.

A 40 yr old outworking a 29 yr old previously unbeaten world champion!
Amazing what this man has just done at his age.

Hope he retires now. Some of the punches he took were hard to watch. Absolute legend.

Yup, but that's not happening as the division is stacked so there's too much money to walk away from.
PBC is making up for the riches Arum siphoned off him for years.
I had it 114-113 to Thurman but i'm pleased the judges went with the knock-down.

Couple of swing rounds there for sure but no way did Thurman take seven rounds last night. Should have been a UD imo, Thurman did well to stay in it but didn't do enough for me. Pacquiao probably could've ended it in the 10th too

Also RIP Pernell Sweet Pea Whitaker. One of the greatest boxers ever. Found this eulogy of sorts by Stephen Edwards a great boxing trainer and analyst:

Often times the praise that a fighter gets is misguided. I’ve seen it with many fighters but Whitaker is at the top of the list. The compliments that Whitaker receives is almost an insult to his real game. People call him a defensive wizard and a stick and mover. He was that but much more.

Pernell Whitaker is among the best 30 fighters in the history of boxing. Most likely higher but I’m doing this off the top of my head. He’s among the top 5 lightweights ever. He’s one of 8 or 9 men in history who have won the lightweight title and the welterweight title. He’s one of the 6 men in history to win the lightweight title and the junior middleweight title. He could be our best ever amateur fighter at 132lbs. That’s just his accomplishments.

Here is my subjective view of his skills. He has the best south paw jab ever and one of the best 20 jabs in the history of boxing. He’s an A+ in fighter and body puncher. He’s one of the top 3 or southpaws ever. Most likely the best. Over the last 40 years he has to be in the top 5 fighters. He’s one of meanest and gutsy fighters I have ever seen. He had a personality of he literally didn’t care who he fought. If you know boxing you know he was never the cause of a fight NOT happening. He was no taller than 5’5 and he was able to win a junior middleweight title. He may be the shortest junior middleweight champion in history. He was immensely strong and with huge legs. He’s one of the top 5 pure boxers in boxing history. He’s one of the top 5 defensive fighters in boxing history. And he’s one of the top 10 out fighters in boxing history.

Pernell Whitaker was truly special. I’ve seen over half of his career fights live as they happened and he’s every bit as good as Ray Leonard, Roy Jones and Floyd Mayweather. He wasn't marketed the way they were, but skill for skill, accomplishment for accomplishment, eye ball test on best day he’s right there. A+ fighter.

That's boxing for you.
Unless there's a KO you never know.
I also rightly assumed judges favour the guy putting the pressure on in the latter rounds.

I've learned over the years to always err on the side of caution so always give the even rounds to the guy i'm not supporting.

RIP indeed!
He was a favourite of mine and thought he got robbed by judges a couple of times.

Unbelievably, a second fighter dies days after Maxim Dadashev.
RIP Hugo Santillan

Apparently he was suspended till the end of the month by the German boxing authorities after taking a beating in his previous fight where he went up a division and but circumvented the ban by fighting in Argentina.

Also on safety in boxing, the below article ask a pertinent question as Rivas life was at risk against an opponent on PEDs.
"If Dillian Whyte’s A sample was positive three days prior to his bout, why were Oscar Rivas and his representatives not informed?"

Campbell was too big for Loma who should go back down even though he won this!

Those things round his neck  😆

Thought Campbell did well, certainly better than some of Lomo's recent victims.

Tough to see such a great fight have so few competitors.

Did well but as Tone said the size difference was the major reason he could stay competitive.

Another Brit Anthony Yarde did extremely well vs Kovalev the same weekend. Got within inches of knocking him out even if he was stopped himself eventually. Moved past Buatsi with this performance who most Brits seem to rate higher than him.

Naoya Inoue vs Nonito Donaire: WBSS Final Set November 7!

Great news. Inoue will be too much for Donaire at this stage but it'll be good to see him against strong competition. Love me some Inoue easily the best puncher in boxing these days some of those angles he throws from only Roy Jones could find.

I love watching Inoue box.

If he wins this, it would be very close between him and Loma for P4P champion.

I'd say it's already between them and Usyk for #1 P4P. Usyk hasn't fought this year and his only fight will be a tune up due to him going up to HW but he was by far fighter of the year in 2018. He went on the road three times dominated everyone and took everyone's belt home, been a while since someone pulled something like this off

You are right that Usyk deserves a mention as, like Mayweather, he often doesn't look like he has had to get out of 3rd gear.
This is a luxury not open to lower weight fighters where is much less coasting and that's what swayed my opinion.
I'm open to having my mind changed but my thinking is Lomachenko is the most skilled, Crawford the most cerebral, Usyk the most dominant with Inoue the most fearsome as his liver punches are something else.

I'd switch the attributes of Loma and Crawford. Crawford is highly intelligent in the ring as well but one of the things that set him apart is his ability to switch hit. Loma on the other hand is outrageously good at creating and solving puzzles in the ring, his constant creation of angles and collapsing of pockets is second to none.

Your argument is valid as they all possess a bit of everything but Loma, with a right-dominant hand, fighting matrix-style southpaw blows my mind.

I want to see Errol Spence v Buddy.

That should be a proper fight.

Errol Spence Jr defeats Shawn Porter via split decision to add WBC belt to IBF title

Spence Jr will face Danny Garcia next.
David Benavidez stopped Anthony Dirrell, who was badly cut, in nine rounds to win the WBC super-middleweight title.
Unbeaten Benavidez, still aged just 22, is now a two-time world champion after a physical and rugged performance.
Mario Barrios knocked down Batyr Akhmedov in the 12th round then earned a unanimous decision to take home the WBA super-lightweight title.

Porter fought a very good fight with the tools he has. The guy could fight Robinson in his prime and would still make it uncomfortable for his opponent, kudos to him. Hope Spence goes after someone else, never a big fan of Garcia and he's past it now anyway.

Maybe I should credit Porter as it was the worst fight performance I've ever seen from Spence.
I don't know if he underestimated Porter who scored more eye-catching power punches that sway judges to the extent that I think the 11th round knock-down saved the win.
