However this summer I'm sure the board will have realised that they had to be active. Especially after Wenger said: 'I am going to be very active and wrap up our deals early'.

Fan confidence in Wenger and the current board are at an all time low, considering the lumbering machine that our supposed Superest Commercial Team is earning, I'm hoping one of them will have realised some damage limitation is required, and soon.

As you say though, probaly won't happen.

Me too, Mata is class and would be a great signing, BUT I also think the Spanish press is latching onto the story because it's linked to Cesc going to Barca.

Ideal world, flog Nasri, keep Cesc, sign Mata to keep Cesc company.

@ Capi, well if it does happen we'll see.

I know it's not his control in which order deals actually go through, but this one has the usual Wenger whiff about it- that it's an opportunistic capture rather than one in a priority area where we really need strengthening.

I wouldn't call it opportunistic, Mata is 'unavailable' and we are the only team properly in for him.

Once we agree terms, I would expect a centrehalf and would think that will be all of our business. Not the worst window but I still feel we should have signed a centre-mid.

I wouldn't say it's not needed either, even in the highly unlikely event that both Cesc and Nasri stay for this season by next summer it's highly likely we'll have lost both and possibly the likes of Arshavin too.

I just hope this isn't paving the way for Cesc to leave and Nasri going infield.

I really like Mata, seems like he's been around for a while, and strengthening the wing forward areas again means we don't face the scenario of Bendtner/Eboue/Vela/Rosicky playing there as has been the case on a few occasions these last few seasons.
